Phil Jackson 'pretty disappointed' by Knicks' start

GREENBURGH, NY -- New York Knicks president Phil Jackson started his news conference with humor.

"My father who was a minister would probably encourage you who are sitting in the back pew come up and sit in the front pew," said Jackson, who addressed reporters wearing a gray Knicks sweatshirt and sweatpants.

It didn't take long for the sermon on the Knicks to turn serious. Jackson said the Knicks' start is a crucible, and he is concerned about a "loser's mentality" engulfing the team as it drops close game after close game.

"Obviously, pretty disappointed," Jackson said of the team's 4-18 record, the worst start in franchise history, which includes a seven-game losing streak and the current eight-game losing streak.
