LeBron James becomes youngest to reach 24,000 points
LOS ANGELES: LeBron James scored 32 points to become the youngest player in NBA history with 24,000 career points and the Cavs closed their West Coast trip with a 126-121 victory Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Kyrie Irving scored 37 points, falling one shy of his season high, and Tristan Thompson had 24 points and 12 rebounds as a surprise starter for the Cavs, who have won consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 19-23.
James (30 years, 17 days) began the night needing 30 points to surpass Kobe Bryant (31 years, 75 days). He reached the milestone in the fourth quarter of a tightly-contested game that included 11 ties and 16 lead changes.
The Clippers pulled within a basket in the final minute when a blown inbounds pass resulted in a Cavs turnover, but they held on when Matthew Dellavedova made two huge free throws with nine seconds left.
