I hope they get their first. I sure as heck wont be cheering for a team from Florida over blue state Colorado and liberal Denver. I went to Ball Arena (just the outside) on vacation there in the summer of 2021. The Avs won the Cup last year, now the Nuggets are in the Finals.
The last Western Conference team to win the NBA Championship that wasnt from California or Texas was the 1979 Seattle SuperSonics.
Im excited to watch.

(33,643 posts)So I won't care THAT much if they win.
Course, my first allegiance in pro sports is the Raiders, which means I hate the Broncos

(69,888 posts)I'll be rooting for Denver, either way.
But, I won't root against the Heat.
If Boston pulls off the comeback, I'll be actively hoping they don't win.
But, it would be super cool for Denver to get trophy #1.
Also, some irony. Jokic does NOT win the MVP but gets a ring. While averaging a 30 point triple double for the playoffs. (BTW: Who were the morons that left him completely off their MVP ballot?)

We'll be rooting for the Nuggets

(383 posts)But, as a team, I gotta go with the Heat! Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro (who can legally drink champagne if they win this year!), and Mr. Pat Riley all with Kentucky ties. Lets add Jimmy Butler (hes such a good player, I *might* start drinking coffee) and Duncan Robinson. I keep a strict prayer vigil that Tyler Herro, aka, The Bucket, will have healed fingers for the finals.
I was born and raised a Kentucky basketball fan. In fact, I was thrilled when Kentucky won the NCAA championship this year! Im such a huge Kentucky fan, I think they should win the NBA championship too, but theyre not in that tournament. Im lucky enough to follow former Kentucky players into the NBA leaving me without a true favorite NBA team, just some amazing basketball at the end of the college season.

(383 posts)have smiled on my underdog prediction that Miami would toast Boston. It just took all 7 games rather than the measly 4 I was sure it was gonna
take.
The playoffs will be an embarrassment of Kentucky basketball riches with Jamal Murray, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Pat Riley.
Considering the very young, shallow roster Kentucky mens basketball will have for the 23-24 season, Im gonna need to continue with my 2023 NCAA championship delusion.

(2,177 posts)Its like all those roleplayers disappeared, Joker shined in his debut on the biggest stage, Butler went quiet, Denver showed up.
And evidently the Heat player who bothered to show up was Adebayo, while the Heat made their shots too late.

And, their biggest, strongest guy is the most skilled guy on the court.
I think they were toying with the Heat in the 2nd half.
We shall see.

(2,177 posts)It was the first 30-20-10 game in Finals history, first NBA teammates to have 30-point triple doubles in the same game in NBA history.
Jokic and Murray played out of their minds. How about Christian Braun, too?
