Top WNBA Draft prospect Paige Bueckers addresses Valkyries fans' social media conspiracies

Then on Friday, Bueckers was in Phoenix for WNBA All-Star weekend and was a guest on a live recording of “A Touch More,” the soon-to-be-revived podcast from former WNBA star Sue Bird and former soccer star Megan Rapinoe. Before the podcast, the Valkyries co-hosted an event in the same building with Togethxr, which left Bueckers surrounded by Golden State signage.

SFGATE asked Bueckers after the podcast whether she’s seen the chatter. Bueckers confirmed, then offered an explanation for the barrage of posts with the colors.

“Lavender purple was always my favorite color. Obviously, the Valkyries latched on to that color, too,” Bueckers told SFGATE. “It just happened to be that way.”

Still, Bueckers said she finds the social media chatter humorous.

“It’s funny to see everybody trying to manifest me going there,” Bueckers told SFGATE. “It’s all love, though. It’s really funny. I laugh at a lot of it. It’s really cool.”
