Warriors Owner Reveals 'Aggressive' Plan For New WNBA Team
The WNBA will be expanding soon! The Golden State Warriors are set to enter the women's league with their own team, the Valkyries. Given the growth of the league in the last few years, it's the perfect time for more teams to come in.
However, the Valkyries will have a problem: which players will be available to them? What good is a team if they don't have good players?
Well, Warriors owner Joe Lacob said that he'll be "aggressive" when WNBA free agency approaches. He said that the new CBA negotiations will benefit the Valkyries in their debut, per Tim Kawakami.
Whatever the rules are, were going to play by the rules and were going to just be as good as we can be and as aggressive as we can be," Lacob said. "Because our job is to win. This is a sports team. The job is to win."
The good news is, as Ive said, were set up pretty well because a lot of these players, knowing theres a new CBA coming in the womens game, have signed pretty short-term contracts. So free agency, you might presume, will be a pretty active area for us and other teams early on," he continued.
