Florida basketball embraces its identity in breakthrough win over Georgia

Although it was still early in the season, Florida basketball found itself in need of a win after previously losing all of its games against top 25 teams.

Veteran forward Alex Condon conveyed the message to his fellow bigs just before UF’s eventual 92-77 win against No. 20 Georgia on Tuesday night, Jan. 6.

“I feel like this is a really important game for us to get some rhythm,” said Condon, who delivered 21 points and eight rebounds. “Last year, when we played Tennessee, and that was kind of a momentum-shifting game for us, so I think that was an area of emphasis for us to really come back and play well today.”

Florida coach Todd Golden echoed that sentiment at halftime as the Gators clung to a 41-40 lead against the Bulldogs despite going up by as much as nine earlier in the half.
