The continuing story of the 3 gallon grow bag experiment. Some observations. All plants are now just beginning the sixth week of growth after germination.
First the Cons..
Watering, because of the size the gals need to be watered more often, not a biggie.
Fertilizer, even though Im using completely natural and organic ways to feed, over feeding can still take place.
Human mistake
figured incorrectly. Ive moved down in size of bags from 7 gallon to 3 gallon. I underfed then overcorrected.
Pros..
With minimal low stress training the plants are shorter and more compact. Im thinking this is mostly due to the smaller rootball size. This is a desirable outcome. Autoflowers do better when you dont cut them so high stress training is a no-go, they dont have the time to recover.
Fixing problems of fertilizing. As mentioned I over fertilized. Flushing out the bags was very easy because of the size. Ran a few gallons of clean water through each till it ran clean. With the smaller amount of soil and the lighter weight of each bag it was not really a chore.
Another little mistake of my own making
we flew a little too close to the sun overnight one day and got a little leave burn. No biggie, raised the lights.
Heres the gals 6th week family portrait. The effects of over fertilizing and leaf burn are still there
all are recovering nicely.
Twisted Tree seeds. Strains: Twisted and Tangled and Out of the Ashes.

(18,262 posts)..as the room ( attached garage) has to be 60 degrees or higher for growth. Im so tempted to get some seeds popping but we still have snow
your grow looks great.. where do you get your seeds/clones?

(10,640 posts)from here in Michigan, Twisted Tree Autoflowers. Ive been growing from seed for decades, I believe the plants are better than from clones. Way different discussion tho. Im starting to believe that at the bigger seed banks, as careful as they are, the seeds arent as fresh as from smaller connoisseur seed breeders. The beans I got from TT popped and got their dicot leaves up and green within 5 days. Thats fast. I did an overnight soak in spring water, to get the hormones going. Im starting the 7th week today and the buds are getting frosty. Looking at about April 1st for finishing up
Ill give it a 2-3 week window
fastest germination to harvest Ive ever done.
Another benefit of TT is the cost per seed. They have options down to only 2 seeds for 12 bucks for example, allowing you to get a bunch of different strains, all from the best genetics.

Ive also used Seed Cellar in the past. They were only for medicinal growers before legalization in Michigan then they expanded to have most of the best breeders represented. They are one of many seed banks in the U.S. now.
Mephisto is a breeder Ive grown
great genetics. One of the many breeders represented.

Ive not used this next breeder but another artesian breeder, Nancys Own. Crazy story on how I found her. Searching for the best genetics I researched Mephisto and was super impressed with how they breed for seeds. They mentioned in one of their blog articles about Nancy and how impressed they were with her crosses using their strains. Well impressing one of the best breeders (?) that must be some good stuff. !!

I also grow in my attached garage, it is insulated though, all through Michigan winters. My grow tent is an AC Infinity 4x4 using the grow lights for warmth. I use SZHLUX 2023 400 Watt LED lights, on full 24/0 cycle. Temps in the tent run from 74 degrees night to 84 day. Garage is heated during the colder days to around 70. Odor is no problem.
