Do you have a link for cannabis not "breeding true"? tridim Jun 2015 #6
No I don't have such a link, which is why I asked a question, rather than made a statement. Erich Bloodaxe BSN Jun 2015 #7

I've read a lot on the subject and Cannabis breeding for desired traits is no different than any other plant. Crosses, back-crosses, etc.

Seeds from a mother will all display traits of both the mother and father, usually within 4 or 5 phenotypes.

I'm not expert (except for smoking it) but most good grows eliminate male plants when it's observable. There are seeds available on the internet, and they can be cultivated, and cloned. That's how growers I've observed do it.

by the female. To help her along, male plants should be removed as soon as identified. I guess if you want the seeds you need to buy them somewhere. Do they sell killer seeds in the dispensaries in Colorado?

That I ever heard of just what people want is good bud as far as males go it is hard not to get some between morphing and just the odds being selective about what gets polinated and what doesn't is a bit more tricky thusly why most people don't buy male plants generally. Hope that helps

I bought 10 seeds from Marc Emory several years ago. I think I got 6 females and 4 males. I let them flower out, saved the seeds, and I've never had to buy seeds again. Every once in a while, I'll cultivate seeds, but I have hundreds saved.

if you want seeds, you can always purchase them from various online outlets

but I'm sure there must be some growers who allow males and seeds

or take a clone from a plant you really like and plant that

I will see whether I can get seeds through the web.
Here they are as expensive as the seedlings. In that
case I bought the seedlings. I don't know whether it
is legal to go through the web, but I will try.

By the way I planted my 2 seedlings and they are doing okay
in the yard now; well, at least until the next hail storm. I am
doing this just as an experiment. The first and last time
I smoked it did not do anything good or bad for me.
Still, it may be fun.

Again a lot of thanks!

you will need to reduce the light to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. That may not be a problem in Colorado, assuming you don't get an early frost. I've got some plants growing outside, but I kept them in pots because I'll have to bring them inside under timed lights when I want them to bloom. By the time we get equal amounts of light and dark here, it's starting to get too cold at night.
