Edibles! Let's eat!

Made some very delicious macaroons yesterday. The combo of the toasted coconut and the cannabis is delightful. Might be my fave recipe behind caramels. Strain specific too. Got about 200 roons or so out of a half ounce of bud shake. (8 sticks of butter with some left over for later)

BUT, we don't just dump weed into the mix. The butter is washed twice to remove all particulates and ONLY THC is infused into the butter (or oil depending)....the cook with a good recipe and YUMMY.

Anyone got any good recipes? No Links, I know all those sites, I want personal experience...

To determine dose? I have had commercial edibles when in Rome...errr...Denver... most are just a convenient dose. Nobody is going to sit around eating them at 25 mg per bite. That said, 1/2 oz in 2 lbs of butter seems a bit light...again, I have no idea... Since I don't have a resistance to edibles and am not used to the mile high air, 50 mg is about all I wanted....

I had my first edible a few weeks ago. I took the recommended dose and spent the night in pure paranoid terror. My muscles were actually jumping. I had no control. I could not get out of bed. I tried 3 times before I was able to get up to get a drink of water because I was so terribly dehydrated. I've been smoking weed for 40 years. Our Godson made brownings and hid them up high so his 8 year old son would not find them. Well of course he did. He spent the entire night vomiting and was sick and could go to school the next day. I go into my dispensary and there are numerous edibles that look like candy. It really is a pet peeve of mine. I know they have a place with people who can't smoke, but boy am I concerned about children getting them.

By several people who wanted to defend making pot look just like common candy. I think it is especially unnecessary since, as I said above, it is a dose in one or 2 bites...not 1 or 2 cookies...the dose can be easily delivered in a generic form and attach a package of gummy bears to it if it must be candy.

The first time I had some was a couple of years ago in Denver...I got so paranoid I had to go back to the hotel for a couple hours...it was a 100 mg 'incredibles cookies and creme" candy bar....I assumed the bar was a dose...bad assumption...Since then I have tried to buy strain specific and go for a hybrid or indica, high sativa makes me anxious and sometimes paranoid.

Sativa strains rated high in 'creativity" can keep you awake, unlike the indica body stone that facilitates sleep.

I make them lighter than heavier when it comes to dosing. "one is fun, two is intense"..... I never make enough of them to test them officially but they are NEVER over dosed.

Why I started making them was because I had a pretty bad experience at a String Cheese Incident show. Girl gave me a cookie, I ate half of it and went into a total anxiety freak out. Had to leave, too intense. So I started to make my own and I never have a problem with them. In fact my friends all love that they are not so strong. And I do enough at a time so they stay really consistent.

And yeah kids, that is a problem for some people BUT if you go to the pharmacy they make all medicines so you can add flavor to them to make them more palatable, so really there is no difference there. If you can hide cherry flavored codeine from kids you can certainly hide edibles from them. That is the parents responsibility.

Pets too, I had a friend who gave some edibles to some people, they left them in the car and their dog ate them. They freaked, took the dog to the vet, the vet saw an opportunity to drain the owners bank account, and the bill was for 2K. They tried to sue the people who made the edibles. Whatabunchofdipshits.

I've seen some people who've been so focused on removing the stigma around marijuana that they seem to actually be pushing an irresponsible view of it. To use an alcohol comparison, a glass of wine isn't going to be an issue for most people, but if you put 10 shots of vodka into a soda can and make it taste like coke, you're asking for trouble, particularly if you give it to someone and tell them it's a cocktail.

Like you said, edibles have their place, but it's irresponsible to treat them without a lot of respect.

I use shake and take about a half ounce of it and let it cook for 25 hours in a slow cooker on low along with a pound and a half of butter. Then I strain it to remove all leaves, stems, etc. I don't clean it with a water wash, because it doesn't matter to me if it has the green color, etc. I also use olive oil occasionally.
I use it to make anything that you put butter in. For example, brownies, or chocolate chip cookies.
The possibilities are endless.

Found the secret. Use fresh ground peanut butter rather than store bought. Dipped in fine chocolate. Excellent.
Simple too. 2 cups beanut butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 cups butter. Mix it up, freeze, roll into balls, freeze again then dip in chocolate using toothpix with some parrafin added to make shell hard.
Taste just like Reeeses cups.
Makes about 90 or so small balls.
