14. 50 years ago (fall '66) I was busted for pot.......

At the time I was a PFC in the USMC and I was well on my way to San Quentin (1 to 5 yrs. felony) after the cops grabbed me for having a half baggie of grass. The judge told me to advance to the bench where he quietly asked me what I was currently doing in the Marine Corps. I explained that my unit was due to go to Vietnam in a matter of weeks.
He then brought the gavel down and declared "case dismissed in the interest of justice" and I walked free!

Now we are on the verge of legalization. That is what I call progress!!!!!

BTW. the grass in Nam was pretty damn good as I recall!

I wrote this in response to a thread elsewhere, with a vocal, outspoken grower who is against Prop 64. Originally posted

Their(sic) UNTAXED dreams. Sorry. PAY YOUR FUCKING TAXES and take fucking part in the fucking world. Don't give me anything else. You can fucking argue some other point all you want, but at least get fucking real here. You make fucking money and you don't want to pay for jack fucking shit. You also don't want to conform to regulations because you can't. There are plenty of provisions for boutique operations in the law, so that argument is bullshit. No, you want to grow all you want, and the current medical regs, which are hardly regs at all, allow cover to sell to the people outside of the medical industry (if you do ever sell to the medical industry that is) and to other states. (Which when it passes you will have to do)

At least be honest and say what you really want to say.

BTW< I am a NORCAL guy. I've done everything there is to do in the industry since I first toked in 1968. I've grown, big operations (and got ripped off) and personal (and got ripped off). I Sold tons and lids, and buds.I've commercially made edibles and sold them at concerts. I've drove it across country. Been ripped off. Been a part of a collective that operated a dispensary until my country shut down all collectives. I've set up all kinds of intrastate operations (and been ripped off by a formerly good friend grower). . Also been busted. I've also had a gun put to my face, trigger pulled and then sued by the guy who did that (and tried to rob a dope deal initiated by my step son). I've seen murders and had friends killed over pot, over one plant to a lot of money.

I know an assload of growers. All with nice homes. NONE OF THEM PAY FUCKING TAXES. Some of them are on fucking welfare. Or disability (the majority) All using the Commons, schools, roads, buying new cars but pay no taxes at any level except sales.
The one thing they all have in common is that NOT ONE of them, nor myself for that matter, could, or would comply with the regulations in the prop. Or the regulations that will have to follow passage (because it is far more complex and issue than this bill covers, lots are not addressed).

For me or anyone that's been treated unfairly in the business. I'd go to work right now growing pot for someone that would pay me a salary. Give me 100 plants, pay me a salary, make sure all my nutrients are available, soil, tools etc are all on site? Fuck yeah. And I dont have to live in some remote spot, risk theft....

Better than getting to the end of the year and hearing "well the yield was low,the quality was low, the sky is blue, the deal went bad" or the other twenty trillion growers and financial backer's excuses to not pay you for growing, trimming, or soil prep, digging holes etc.

Time to get fucking real and join the fucking human fucking race. pay your fucking way.

(of course, they won't and eventually, when the tax thing does get worked out on a Federal level) those that continue to operate out of the legal market will become in essence Al Capone's, tax evaders. And this will bring even more law enforcement, this time at the Federal level. (revenuers!!!!) They will ship more and more to other states as well.

How many plants does CA need?
If 1 person smokes 1/8 oz a week (low figure)=6 oz a year
38.38 million people in CA
20% of pop puffs.=7.76 million pot smokers (Low figure)
46,000,000 (rounding) ounces per year consumed
2,875,000 pounds.
2.875,000 1 lb plants. (Average)

Are you saying that they don't register their vehicles? Because that's how roads are paid for.

22. Partially, along with gas taxes, tolls and Federal funding

Especially in regards to highways (which are roads).

General taxpayers at all levels of government now subsidize highway construction and maintenance to the tune of $69 billion per year – an amount exceeding the expenditure of general tax funds to support transit, bicycling, walking and passenger rail combined.

Regardless of how much they drive, the average American household bears an annual financial burden of more than $1,100 in taxes and indirect costs from driving – over and above any gas taxes or other fees they pay that are connected with driving.

23. Obviously they pay gas taxes, too, unless they are all making veggie diesel for their cars.

And tolls would depend upon where they live, which bridges they drive over, etc.
