Related: About this forumI just moved from NC to FL, where medical mj is legal. Need advice.
I would really like to get the card that makes it possible to acquire from the FL dispensaries.
I have high blood pressure, insomnia, digestion problems (nothing serious), and some general anxiety.
For sure, mj helps with all of these conditions, but I am not sure that they would qualify me.
Does anyone have advice on how I should speak to a physician? Like what to say. Like what not to say. Like what should or should not appear in the written survey every doctor makes one fill out before an appointment.
Any words would be appreciated. Thank you.

(95 posts)You have to go to a "pot" doctor who is qualified to prescribe it. I have fibromyalgia and all I did was go the doctor and explain my symptoms: I think I had to have something from my doctor describing my condition. It was very easy to get; however, it was $250 to see the doctor and medical marijuana was expensive, too. It helps a lot of people but I had a bad reaction to it; it is worth a try, though.

(18,281 posts)...once rec became legal the prices shot up and all kind of regs went into effect. No more freebies and all products have to be sealed. There went the access to clones! BUT the prices really drastically fell after a cpl years and the only reason to even have an mmj card now is so we can grow our own legally as wash state one of the few who dont allow adults to grow even if legal..unless you are a mmj pt.

(52,216 posts)but this is in CA. The card was only about $45 for one year. You can still get it. At some dispensaries you can get a small tax reduction or an "express lane/no wait" if you have one.
My friend went in and got a card for her back pain. I got mine for anxiety and insomnia. I have bad insomnia and vaping heavy duty Indica is better than edibles and smoking.... for me anyway. It is also better than smoking since it doesn't waste as much, is fast and easy to use in the middle of the night when I always wake up, and is better for the lungs, I am told.
I took my current meds with me and my other doctors' names, records, etc but never need it since the doctors never asked to look at them. I just filled out their questionnaire honestly. I got my blood pressure taken (I think that is for show) and that was it. The whole thing is easy and I have never seen anyone turned down in the 8 years I have been doing it.

(1,642 posts)No question that vaping is superior to smoking. I estimate that it is around five times as economical. That is, it squeezes five times as much useful intake from a given amount compared with smoking.
Also, don't throw away your duff (the leftovers from vaping). They can be used to make edibles.
I hear it got significantly more expensive in CA when it went from medical to recreational.
I read your posts a lot, BP. See you around DU.

(52,216 posts)Actually the vaping costs are about the same as flower for me. I keep notes and compare them economically. They always have special deals in CA too. They pop up each week in neighborhood papers. They have Happy Hour deals. Delivery deals, 10% off coupons, etc so that helps to fight the taxes from the state, county and city.

(1,642 posts)Wait until you have two grams of duff. (This will be several tablespoons worth.)
Take two eggs. Separate the yolks and whites.
Put the yolks in a bowl. Add the duff. Scramble the yolks and duff.
Fry the yolks, then eat them. Wait 1.5 to 2 hours. Then enjoy the next 8 hours.
Why yolks? Because the active ingredients in the duff are fat soluble, as opposed to water soluble.
This would probably work in brownie mix (with lots of butter), also scrambled whole eggs, but we haven't experimented with them yet.
Also, duff makes for fine smoking, as well.
Your mileage may vary, but not by too much.
Thank you for your explanation of the mmj cards.

(18,281 posts)..in wash state we have to have it noted in our charts by our primary doc that we discussed the particular symptom with the doc during the past 12 months.....then we take our charts to the provider who looks in the chart to verify we discussed symptom with doc and then we get our card or get it renewed... Our providers are only in the local brick and morter location once a month.

(39,358 posts)If you are near Jacksonville, I can point you at a med dr who will get you a card for 150$ plus the 75$. It only takes ten days to get. There are also a few dispensaries around. I'm actually about to head out right now. I'll report back if you'd like.
They'll qualify anyone and aren't shy about it.
