Please HELP I am overwhelmed!!

I live in Oklahoma and just got my medical card. I am an old woman who has smoked for a long time, even made a few good batches of brownies, but I am out of my league in a dispensary. I need a good course in the basics of how to shop and how the different strains and products (oil, wax, tincture, ect) can be used.
I am also a retired nurse who made good grades in chemistry and have known a few kitchen wizards in my day I want to delve deeply into the chemistry so that in the future I can process my own plants into the other products mentioned above.
Plants first - I have a black thumb. It's something I have worked HARD to correct since retiring. Eggplants, peppers of all kinds and roses seem to be my biggest successes so far, but this IS something I AM going to learn!!

Can anyone recommend a book they would consider All Things Marijuana for Dummies? And possible another book for Chemistry and yet another for Botany? I would prefer hard copy books. I'm old school, I want to write notes in margins, highlight portions and put tabs on the really important sections.

Any and all advice for a complete newbie would be greatly appreciated!

It's like DU for pot. Even has a newbie forum. Also, don't be shy about asking the people at your dispensary. They are usually willing to help out and they get newbies all the time.

I'm currently reading through the Marijuana Growers Bible and some other resources getting ready to be able to hopefully grow my own soon if it becomes legal.

will give you good advice... I grew a few plants (from clones) last year... it is very easy to grow and this year I am waiting on seeds to get started... I use it primarily for my salve... I use it as I do with most herbs

my comfrey/marijuana/Calendula salve (infused with olive oil)... excellent for many ailments!!

Love the look of that salve...I’m looking for some help... do you use an infusion machine? I’ve been looking at a couple different ones, Magical Butter and the Infuzium 420. Leaning towards the 420...
Oh heck this explains it all...

yet to visit my first, ever dispensary. And I no longer desire “get what you get” weed. I was given some about a week ago and it kept me up. Just what I didn’t need. I liked the “buzz” mind you, just that it kept me awake, thinking and thinking. Then thinking some more. No more of the “get what you get.” In this day and age I aught not have to go through that. But I’m getting impatient. Very, very IMPATIENT!!

...for me i like straight Indica oil cartridge for night. I get horrible leg cramps at night..never know when they are going to hit and why. so nothing prevents them..but the Indica oil i keep by my bedside really helps relieve them..and it helps me fall back to sleep as well.

Forums are great, I will give that one a look. But I can't go to the shelf, pull down a book and reference a post that was made a year ago.
Clones? What are those? How did you learn what it was? How did you learn to make the slave? I need sources, not just inspiration.
Dispensary folks are great but they aren't teachers. I don't expect to find the depth of education I am look for there, for free.
The Marijuana Growers Bible DOES look helpful, that is more along the lines of what I was looking for.

The info gleaned from the American Cannabis Nurses Organization has been
Immeasurable. The ACNA has a great website and a private FB page that may be helpful.

Eileen Kornazky RN has a book called CBD but it addresses all the major compounds found,
With some recipes and the other things you are looking for. I met her at a cannabis Nurses
Conference this year.

For videos I recommend

Greenflower-media.com is a great place to watch videos on all aspects, from seed to harvest, to extraction methods.

Healer.com with Dr. Dustin Soluk is another

And cannot leave out ProjectCBD.com

And my site- greennightingale.com

No thanks. I'm a retired OR nurse who has taken her last inservice and paid for her last certification. I smoke now to forget 40 years of abuse at the hands of surgeons and hospital administrators.

Clones? - just type in how to make clones. You can clone lots of plants all the same way.

Salve and butter recipes - lots of good ones on the net. Best butter recipe is on High Times site.

....but the months before we could buy legally, my med card was my best friend. Most the med stores were actually run by someone my own age. I even found one run by all women. Find one you can trust..get referrals from others using them and go in and say to the MMJ rep exactly what you said to us. They are there to help you..

As for growing..I live in the forest, so no sun because of the trees and the summers of smoky skies from forest fires. I invested in a hydroponic grow box. Mine happens to be a Bloom Box by BC Northern Lights..but shipping from Canada to Oklahoma would be prohibitive. Look on line for some indoor grow boxes and if you are a chemistry geek the hydroponic set up would intrigue you. Plus they grow in about 1/2 the time.
