I should be able to do this.

My home state is Illinois. I now live in CA.
It would be nice to visit old friends and maybe share and trade the local varieties. If it's legal in both states and I don't make any stopovers, what's the problem?

and flies back to our non-legal state in possession. When he first told me, I was surprised because he's a cautious guy. When it dawned on me that they're not checking the folks coming out of the secure area, only the people going in, it made sense.

Still, I'm not sure I would do the same. The federal reasons given in post #1 are another reason.
