Looking for a couple different things.
First, I need a windproof, stormproof, waterproof, dropproof, generally indestructable one to go camping with. I used to have one that was fantastic, and so durable it worked fine after I accidentally put it through the wash.
Second, I need a windproof one that can be refilled for general use. I had one a while ago, and lighting a bowl properly becomes a lot easier when you can aim the tip of the jet to the rights spots on the bowl.
Figured this forum might have some ideas.

(39,358 posts)When I go camping or treking I will sometimes have nearly a dozen throughout my pack. I keep one ranger banded to my main knife sheath. others are attached to pack straps and stuffed into other gear.
If one fails, a dozen won't. If they all get wet, wait a few minutes, but what are the odds that they ALL get wet.

(15,359 posts)buying boxes of cigars online. Those are free for a reason. They work well at first and then become unadjustable or just quit working. I have no clue what an expensive one would function like. I'm not a cigar snob though I smoke good quality ones. I just usually use a bic once my latest fancy torch dies on me.

(3,747 posts)I'll take a look at that. I could see using that as my everyday lighter, though I don't know how well it'd hold up in harsh environments.
