Government students had the chance to learn about democracy first hand from a well-known political figure.

About 800 sophomores from Naperville Central and Naperville North High Schools attended an assembly with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont).

During his presentation, the Senator mentioned his recent Presidential run and encouraged students to get involved in politics no matter which side of the aisle they’re on.

“What major issues are on your mind? All of your feelings on those issues don’t matter unless you get involved,” he said.

Students also had the chance to ask the Senator questions of their own.

His visit to Naperville Central was through Naperville 203’s partnership with Anderson’s Bookshop. #inspire203
