The flood of anti-Bernie anti-Progressive rants

on DU has receded .... at least for today.

When they come up, I suggest objecting once, reasonably, pointing out the importance of attracting idealistic young voters for the 2018 and 2020 elections and then exiting the discussion.

You'll get five or six snarky, derisive replies from familiar names, but by and large I think the majority of DU is tired of refighting the primary and isolating one of the most popular politicians of our time.

A few weeks ago, we got a new, prospective DUer. He made all of 4, count 'em 4, post before a storm of anti-Bernie rants drove him away; his final post was: "That's it, I'm out of here!"

I would add: Have you noticed the "Whatever happened to........" threads? People have been leaving' admittedly not all of them were because of the storm of attacks on Bernie; but, I'm sure a lot of them were.

DU is becoming mostly older, most centrist to center-right, and I think it's getting smaller.

So many supporters who posted here for years have just left. And alerting on the blatant attacks doesn't seem to do much good - they're a clear violation of the SoP as it's written, but juries don't necessarily see it that way.

Undercutting him (his ideas) before the upcoming elections is seen as a necessity by those interests.

They're locked in a mindset that everything Sanders is bad. They go out of their way to find or create anything negative about Sanders they can

... of a DU that is hostile to progressives, and leave.

It's too tiring to hang in there and argue. They seem to have unlimited time, a firm grasp of 2016 political trivia, and closed minds.
