Sen. Bernie Sanders is returning to New Hampshire on Labor Day, sparking more speculation that the independent senator from Vermont is gearing up for a second run for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The Monitor was first to report on Wednesday that Sanders will give the keynote address in Manchester on Sept. 3 at the annual New Hampshire AFL-CIO Labor Day Breakfast. Its the fifth straight year he will have headlined the large labor gathering.
Were very excited that Sen. Sanders will be able to make our Labor Day breakfast a memorable event, state AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett said.
Brackett also noted Sanderss passion and support for working families.
The Labor Day visit will be the senators first stop in 10 months in the state that traditionally holds the first presidential primary in the race for the White House. Sanders was last in the Granite State in late October to headline the Strafford County Democrats Fall Celebration, which was held at the American Legion Hall in Rollinsford.
