John Oliver says Martin O'Malley just happy to be here.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Martin O'Malley was on the receiving end of a John Oliver jab Sunday night during an LGBT discrimination-centered "Last Week Tonight" episode. Oliver details the ways LGBT people still face discrimination in the U.S., like being fired from their jobs for their sexual orientation, and Oliver's camp reached out to all of the 2016 presidential nominees to ask:

"Would you support passage of a federal law or laws that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, specifically in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodation, and access to credit?"

Only four candidates got back to him, including Lincoln Chafee and O'Malley (who pledged their support). "But to be honest," Oliver quipped, "I think they were just happy anyone had asked them anything, so discount that."

He wanted candidates to respond and when they did, he mocked the ones who were pro-Equality. He should have knocked the chickens who didn't even respond (see Hillary Clinton).
