Presidential candidate O'Malley plans Bay State fundraising swing.

Democratic presidential contender Martin O'Malley plans a swing through the Greater Boston area this week for a series of fundraisers and media appearances as the former Maryland governor looks to gain a foothold in neighboring New Hampshire.

Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone and former Lt. Gov. Tom O'Neil, of O'Neil and Associates, will host a fundraising event at River Bar on Assembly Row in Somerville on Thursday night, according to an invitation obtained by the News Service.

Suggested donations for the event are $2,700 for an individual or $5,400 to co-host the reception.

That event will follow a lower-dollar gathering dubbed a "New Leadership Reception" and hosted by Boston City Councilor Matt O'Malley earlier in the evening at Doyle's Café in Jamaica Plain. Young professionals and students are encouraged to attend for as little as $25.
