O'Malley highlights Labor Day event.

A visit Sunday by former Maryland governor and current presidential candidate Martin O'Malley highlighted Clinton's annual Labor Day Picnic. . .

Clinton Labor Congress Secretary Bob Krajnovich confirmed the crowd this year was an increase over the past couple years. He said one of the larger crowds he can remember from the event was approximately six or seven years ago when Tom Harkin attended the event, adding people were flocking in and out and they had only standing room available.
Sunday's event was highlighted by the arrival of O'Malley, who spoke about why he is running for president. This included discussing the importance of the American dream and giving citizens a chance to be successful again.

"Seventy percent of us today are earning the same or less than we were 12 years ago," O'Malley said. "And that's not how the American dream is supposed to work or how our country's supposed to work."
O'Malley stressed the importance of wage increases, including raising the minimum wage when possible, providing overtime pay for overtime work and making college more affordable. O'Malley then asked those in attendance for their support in the upcoming election.

"You and I have a tremendous opportunity in this upcoming election," O'Malley said. "No doubt there's a lot of people who say to me you got some pretty big odds cut out for you kid. I kind of like tough odds. I've always been drawn to the tough fights. The tough fight is what tells me it's a fight worth having because there are some things worth saving. I am in this race because of this fight and I am in this race to win. And I need is your help because our country is worth saving and the American dream is worth saving. Our kids' future is worth saving and our planet is worth saving"
