just stopped by to say I hope O'Malley has the opportunity to make his case

in the next debate. As well as Lessing. I want to hear more from everybody, but O'Malley had good moments in the first debate that weren't acknowledged by the press or here at DU.

I considered him for a bit...but Martin doesn't get it.

Might be a generational thing. VN and Watergate were whitewashed and prettied up for the next generation.

A super-smart guy I know... very political , in fact... didn't know who Daniel Ellsberg is/was. He's 36.

How old's O'Malley?

His smarts are in the area that resonates with most Americans - trying to keep your head above water in 2015. This is a new challenge for Americans.

When we came through the Great Depression, the economy wasn't globalized. FDR didn't have to deal with outsourcing. Glass Steagall was established by FDR as law. Hillary had better come up with something that replaces it or improves upon it.

Where does O'Malley stand on Glass Steagall?

O’Malley Calls for New Glass-Steagall, Crackdown on Banks.

“When laws are broken, Wall Street CEOs and their institutions get off with nothing more than fines paid by shareholders that they can write off as business expenses,” Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley says in Des Moines Register op-ed.

Reiterates call for new Glass-Steagall that would separate banks’ commercial and investment banking divisions

Says he’d create division at DOJ to investigate and prosecute economic crimes

I also think he had some very great moments. My favorite was his stand on environmental issues and his idea to make caring for the environment a net economic gain rather than a loss. I am not sure how he plans to do that, but he is the only one I have ever in my life heard talking about that being a possibility and he is probably right about it being possible.

Yesterday I read somewhere something like "America doesn't need roads to deliver goods anymore". It was a blatant attack on the working class and an unwillingness to do anything that benefits the country itself and its infrastructure.

That needs to be pointed out in a different way than Bernie is doing. His sound bites tend to blame the mega wealthy. I think the elected Congress needs a thorough lashing for ignoring it's responsibility to the Constitution and the people.

Maybe Martin is the one to do that.

He is a single issue vanity candidate with zero experience. While that may be welcome in the GOP (Carson, Trump. Fiorina) it isn't how the Democrats do things. Lessig should run for local/State office and prove he has the chops or try to link on to an established campaign as an economic adviser.

It's a vital issue for today's economic recovery.

. . . says his failed efforts to reform copyright law turned him into a passionate advocate for campaign finance reform.

For a decade, Lessig stood at the crossroads of a war between Silicon Valley and Hollywood over copyright laws. . . .

Even though his views on the issue are correct, I don't see the need to put him on the debate stage.
