KTIV's Matt Breen sat down with O'Malley during his trip to Sioux City Friday.

During my one-on-one interview with O'Malley, I asked the former Maryland governor to size up the Democratic race for president. O'Malley touted his executive experience.

"My candidacy offers something that neither of the other candidates does... and that's 15-years of executive experience," said O'Malley. "As a big city mayor, and a governor, bringing people together to get things done."

Passing marriage equality in Maryland, and abolish the death penalty.

"These weren't words, these were actions," O'Malley said.

To create a better future for the country, O'Malley proposes restoring "common sense" labor and wage policies, and make "investments" in our country.

None were more popular among this group of Morningside College students than O'Malley's plan to make college tuition-free.

"You have to increase the federal investment through PELL grants," said O'Malley. "You have to create some new grant programs so that states have some skin in the game. and their dollars are matched by the federal government. And, we have to help the students, and the parents trapped in the "parent plus" loans refinance at a much lower rate."

Wall Street will help pay for the proposal, as well. O'Malley would add a "transaction fee" attached to every trade.
