O’Malley fields Lowcountry’s questions in town hall.

On Saturday night, Martin O’Malley became the second democratic presidential candidate to appear in State Senator Marlon Kimpson’s (D) town hall series.

The former Governor of Maryland spoke to a crowd of about 50 on topics ranging from health care to gun control. “It’s easier for terrorists to buy combat assault weapons in the United States that it is for terrorists to buy them in another country,” said O’Malley. The Democratic presidential hopeful took questions from the crowd on a variety of topics including the recent domestic terrorism in San Bernardino and says it requires a similar discipline as fighting crime back home. “It requires some commonsense gun safety legislation-there was a time in a country when you weren’t able to buy combat assault weapons,” said O’Malley.

The latest polls have O’Malley in single digits behind Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. “He’s a former governor, he’s a former mayor, he has the credentials, “said State Senator Marlon Kimpson.

O’Malley will be traveling to Iowa for a fundraiser on Monday.
