Martin O'Malley
Related: About this forumMartin O'Malley To Jorge Ramos: Donald Trump Is A Racist Fascist.
These are the sorts of appeals that history has taught us oftentimes precedes fascism, or worse, the plunging of a Republic into a security state. We all need to push back against Donald Trump's language.

(33,412 posts)I'll take it up a notch - he's laying bare the true faces of many Americans -
Not only those who agree with him.
But those who say nothing.
I'm glad Martin flat out told th truth.

(2,798 posts)He is not intimidated by the NRA.
In fact, even the polls don't scare him.
He is an unusual person, to be sure.

(33,412 posts)I'm not a Roman Catholic but went to a catholic High School and University. I've got a feeling he took the same social justice and philosophy classes I did. Yep - he had to have. Because his stance is Sophomore Year at any high school in the Rochester Catholic Diocese.
You do the right thing - because there are clear Demarcs between right and wrong.
ETA - with the exception of one - my high school grad class around the country - all appear to be supporting O'Malley. We think my real name counterpart just went off the deep end with supporting Kasich but she's very pro life and lives in Ohio now.

(2,798 posts)You couldn't graduate from Catholic University of America (O'Malley's alma mater) without taking philosophy, ethics, and theology classes. But you could see already, even in a high school speech delivered by O'Malley (can't find the link at the moment), that he was already imbued with moral principle and a sense of justice. Of course, his parents had a lot to do with his character formation as well.
One trait that reveals his strength of character is his amazing self-effacing sense of humor. People who can laugh at themselves have great confidence and self-esteem. They are not looking for approval from others. They just strive to do the right thing. That's why O'Malley doesn't follow polls, but follows principle. The problem is that the Democratic party has a home-run hitter on their team, but they leave him on the bench and keep sending in the older players.
