Maryland delegate backs O'Malley.
I am a member of the Maryland General Assembly who worked with Martin OMalley when he was governor. I am in New Hampshire to volunteer on his campaign for President. I have been knocking on doors and visiting with community leaders sharing Gov. OMalleys Maryland story. I support him because I know, first-hand, that he knows how to govern and how to lead.
He can get things done in tough times. It is no coincidence that our state was recognized as having the best public schools in the country for five of the eight years he was governor. At the same time, Gov. OMalley advanced a progressive social agenda. He persuaded overwhelming majorities of Maryland voters to support every item that Republicans petitioned to referendum. These were not pushover issues. They were issues like marriage equality, and the DREAM Act (in-state tuition for immigrant children who grew up in Maryland and graduated from Maryland schools).
I have been in New Hampshire for only a couple of days, but already I am very impressed by the voters. They are thoughtful and they care about our country. Many have told me they like what Gov. OMalley stands for, but wonder if they should vote for him because he is not already at the top of the polls. I would like to suggest that the voters of New Hampshire can change all that. They can advance a candidate who has shown over and over that he can turn ideas and words into actions.
