Martin O'Malley
Related: About this forum'My brother Michael Enright took this photo last night in Iowa and I presume to share it here.
It's a great shot of former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and his daugther Tara O'Malley. I count myself lucky at having had the chance to write for Martin last year. My admiration and thanks go out to the entire O'Malley family for their deep civic identification, dedication and service -- even if we didn't make it out onto the road with you, your Maryland comrades were proudly there with you in spirit. And remain so here at home. with William O'Malley, Katie O'Malley and Grace O'Malley.'

(14,691 posts)I am a Sanders supporter as you can see below, but as I'm not really that up on the "ins n outs" of politics - I've wondered all along why Martin never made it out of the single digits.

(11,856 posts)He was the "center left " candidate, and the kind of guy most Americans claim to want.

(11,994 posts)My opinion is he was screwed by the DNC debate schedule. Not enough, and at inopportune viewing moments (Sat. before Christmas? You fucking kidding?)
I was really starting to get to know him too. And I liked what I heard. As I said, a real shame.

I am just totally p.o.'d and burnt out on this whole process. I didn't necessarily expect O'Malley to win but more, positive exposure that he would have gotten from more and better debate scheduling would have been good for the future of the party.
Both Hillary and Sanders have drawbacks. Either will be a thousand times better than any of those republican clowns, with some variation but pretty much across the spectrum of issues liberals care about. At the same time, each of them has points that makes someone like myself grit their teeth.
Protecting the anointed one(s) was not worth losing the opportunity to build the party for the future.
I'm detouring from the Presidential campaign now, taking up for a local senatorial candidate, and paying little attention to the 'others.'
