O’Malley’s Waterloo: Five Baltimore Teens Campaign in Iowa

'Next thing I know, we’re outside on the sidewalk, and then heading to a hotel near the airport. It’s nearly midnight. A blizzard is forecast for the morning. The day has been long and difficult. The kids are disappointed but not surprised by O’Malley’s results. All of them express shock by the caucuses themselves.

“It’s completely unreliable,” Zoe says. She noticed that supporters counted the votes for their own candidates and that no one checked the math required to assign delegates.

“It should be like a science experiment,” she says. “You want everything to be in line. None of the variables were controlled.”'
