'As the political vultures circle around the incumbent, a longtime backer and financier of former Gov. Martin O'Malley is touting him as the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
John P. Coale, whose $500,000 loan helped put O'Malley over the top in his 2006 race against Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., tweeted his support Wednesday as speculation swirled that U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida might be on her way out.
"Martin O'Malley 4 DNC Chair. Acceptable to both candidates, did great job as [Democratic Governors Association] chair. Great on TV. Huge on executive experience," Coale wrote.'>>>

Personally I'd like to see him as head of the Veteran's Administration, and/or addressing U.S. infrastructure issues.

(28,394 posts)I felt that he never got enough exposure to really catch on and was over-shadowed by the Hillary/Bernie "rivalry" in the media. He was pretty much ignored in the debates, much to my consternation!
I hope we see much more of him in the future, whether it is a cabinet or political post. I'm a fan!

(26,258 posts)the little we got to see of him. I found this group very helpful in getting his message out here, but nationally there was virtually nothing. I would like to see him have a big role in the future.

(182 posts)In a breakdown of screen time, both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton were seen 33 percent of the time, and 30 percent was dedicated to commercial breaks. Martin O'Malley only got 3 percent of the debate to talk about the issues.

(18,148 posts)I think there's many jobs O'Malley could do well. Yes, DNC chair would be one of those. Probably wouldn't be my top pick for him though. I'd rather see him in a job where he could make a big difference and not be seen as so partisan.
But then, to me the top priority is developing his brand so he can be our Presidential nominee in a future election year.

(11,607 posts)I was thinking about this the other day.
MO'M would make a great DNC chair. He could also serve in a cabinet position., no?
DWS is a member of congress and also serves as the head of the DNC, Why can't MO'M?

(21,883 posts)DWS couldn't handle it. I am not saying MO'M couldn't, but I am worried to try that again, especially when the party is breaking along economic lines.

(136,043 posts)the cabinet position I'd like to see him in is highly challenging (and not 'sexy,) Veterans Affairs Department.

(2,798 posts)He would be serious about prosecuting corporate, environmental, and financial criminals.
His background as a lawyer and a prosecutor, as well as mayor and governor, would make him an excellent choice.
