Martin O'Malley
Related: About this forumI just received this email from Martin O'Malley:
Friends,
Yesterday I joined millions of Americans across the country by endorsing Hillary Clinton to be our next president.
The voters have spoken, and it is now time to unite our Party. I urge all of my friends and supporters to campaign for Secretary Clinton, and am committing my energies to doing the same.
Democrats, Independents and Republicans alike must come together to confront the dangerous threat to our democracy presented by Donald Trump.
We deserve better.
Together we can create an economy that works for all of us again. Together we can remind America that every citizen matters. Together we can keep the Democratic Party where it belongs- leading America towards a more progressive future.
Lets get to work,
Martin

(135,876 posts)I HOPE he's right about this: 'Together we can create an economy that works for all of us again.' AND 'Together we can keep the Democratic Party where it belongs- leading America towards a more progressive future.'

and "'Together we can keep the Democratic Party where it belongs- leading America towards a more right wing, militarized, spied on, corporate ruled future.'
...but at least its not Trump!

(10,345 posts)Because he actually thinks we should all support the nominee of the Democratic party? It's obvious he cares about his country and wants to make sure we have a Democrat in the WH next year, not an idiot like Trump.

(10,345 posts)And now none of it matters.
It's like integrity means jack shit to politicians and they just play the part depending on what role they're in.
Why ever attack her on that if you're going to pretend to forget ever saying any of that?

(20,453 posts)"Let's get to work"? I'd say we've been at work, and now that it's clear what they're asking us, I say, NO THANKS.

(2,798 posts)We have to move forward as best we can with things as they are, not as we would like them to be. We have to hold on to our dreams, but we also have to deal with actual resources and obstacles. Our forward movement has to be reality-based. Our challenge every day is to try to make things better rather than worse, insofar as we can. Many of O'Malley's criticisms of Clinton were and are valid. Many of O'Malley's criticisms of Sanders were and are valid. Every candidate is a flawed and imperfect human being. We can't wait for the perfect leader to solve our problems for us. We have to behave like adults and let go of our anger and our grudges, since the common enemy we face is an unprecedented disaster. We face a common threat to our judiciary, our environment, our economy, our culture, and our democratic heritage. I cannot stand by and let Republicans prevail because my candidate -- O'Malley in this case -- lost. I am going to work with him to defeat Trump and the Republican party. Democrats are a diverse bunch, and I accept that. I am committed to working with people, even those I disagree with, in order to promote the common good. I believe that we have to get past our anger and disappointment and get back to the hard work of doing what we can as best we can.
