Until then, we'll just have to hope that Jill Biden was as fast as she was the other night. But I sure would prefer a bunch of professional guys with earpieces, sunglasses and guns.

(22,651 posts)A segment of our population are so disconnected from reality by years of disinformation. The man did quickly understand machine guns are illegal, a good point to bring up to the 'take my guns away crowd'.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
Chainfire
(17,757 posts)It is not illegal to own machine guns. If you can afford the purchase price (starting around ten grand and rising quickly). Pass the enhanced background check, pay a $200.00 tax stamp, you can have all the machine guns you want. There are some additional restrictions that comes with ownership, but it is nothing that is particularly difficult to deal with.
If I wanted an MG today, I would drive 25 miles to my nearest dealer, pay for the gun, do the paperwork for the background check, and wait probably around 60 to 90 days for the results to come back before I could take possession of the weapon. For a non-felon is is mainly just a money issue. They are as expensive to shoot as they are to buy too. You could easily spend $20.00 a second airing out a machine gun. That is usually more money than a construction worker or truck driver can stand.
Machine gun crimes are rare because they are generally owned by professional people with deep pockets and a lot to lose. I spoke to a dealer about who his clients were, and he told me that the were mostly doctors and lawyers. Go figure...
The point of this is that if Joe chooses to carry out arguments with people like the man in the video, he needs to know a little more of what he is talking about. He would have been better served to have just laughed at the guy and walked away rather than fall into a trap. Right wingers get a great thrill of catching liberals in an error when they are talking about guns. The right rejoices in being able to point out how dumb Libtards are.

(11,686 posts)is that our Democrats are not against guns totally, they just want people to be accountable for their ownership and make military guns unavailable and against the law. That is all.

(9,687 posts)While his psychophants tell us they love him for that.
If Biden is criticized for coarse language, that's a pretty weak attack to say the least, particularly in light of the current resident and his filthy mouth and mind.
Remember, these MAGATS project their ugliness on everyone around them, so a stab at Joe for language would be feeble and sad and snowflakelike.

(6,636 posts)President Obama signed two laws relating to gun rights:
One of the laws allows gun owners to carry weapons in national parks; that law took effect in February 2012 and replaced President Ronald Reagan's policy that required guns to be locked in glove compartments of trunks of cars that enter national parks.
Another gun law signed by Obama allows Amtrak passengers to carry guns in checked baggage, a move that reversed a measure put in place after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Both of these laws expanded the rights of gun owners.
Mango Mussolini, on the other hand, signed a new regulation in December of 2018 banning bump-fire stocks. Next thing you know, he'll be coming after my guns.
