(38,197 posts)Biden is not the worst I have ever had to hold my nose for, but still, we had something good going on the progressive side of the party until he joined the race. I will miss that.
He ain't Trump. So, I will vote for him. I just won't enjoy it as much as I could have, had it been someone more liberal. He is not even for legalization.
I keep thinking about DOMA. Anita Hill. The Jessie Helms cosponsored pro-segregation legislation. The whole thing just stinks. I am going to need a big ol' clothespin.

(9,611 posts)had my first choice candidate become the party nominee (except for Gore) let alone the president.
Just once in my lifetime I'd like to see a truly progressive president, a party that backs him or her, and real political change.
I've often thought how different America would be today if Robert F. Kennedy or Howard Dean or Bernie Sanders had become president, or at least Al Gore to solve climate change.
Dr. Dean was the first to really understand that we needed true healthcare reform. Hillary tried for a while but neither she nor Obama did nearly enough.
Healthcare costs are pricing us out of our home. We don't have a candidate left who will fight for healthcare for all. I will vote for Biden, but with tears in my eyes, wondering what the future holds.
I know he will do some good things. He'll appoint better people to the Supreme Court. Hopefully roll back the racist policies toward immigrant families and do at least something about climate change, but I fear it may not be enough.

Biden on his very worst day is a million times better than Trump on his very best day.

(10,467 posts)Every primary season DU loses folks who can't bring themselves to vote for the nominee. 2008 was really brutal in that regard.2016 was almost as bad.

(6,021 posts)I know the results are still coming in, but would invite aspiring DUers to compare this to results of a similar poll a few primaries ago in which Senator Sanders wins the nomination.

(5,948 posts)I think Biden, if he is the nominee, in order to win the November election needs to light the fire under the younger voters to come out in bigger numbers than they have been. The VP pick needs to be a progressive favorite and policies need to be in the platform like a really progressive health care agenda that includes medicare for all who want it and some tax improvement for the working class. Student loan debt forgiveness and no tuition junior college.

is going to start playing up this idea that Bernie was cheated. He did this four years ago and a lot of people fed right into it.
