show that Biden is in a much better position than Clinton was in 2016. Trumps biggest base of support came from non-college educated whites. Hillary, on the other hand, did historically badly with this group. It would only have taken a modest improvement on the margin there for her to have won Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and thus the Presidency. Right now, Biden looks to be able to turn those voters out at a very high rate. He may not actually beat Trump with that group, but it would be a lot closer to even than 25/75. Like I said, if the rest of the Clinton coalition held and you improved only modestly with that group, you'd win.

Joe MUST win more rural and blue collar voters than did Hillary to win against Trump. If you look at the map of Michigan by county in the link below, it shows that Joe has kept Bernie to the 30% range in every county in the upper peninsula (that's the upper left portion of Michigan on the map known as the U.P.) with the exception of Marquette County ( the UP's most populous and home of Northern Michigan University) and Houghton County, another populated area. And in those two counties, Bernie was in the low 40% range. The Upper Peninsula is very rural.

If I remember correctly, Hillary only won one county in the UP, Marquette, against Trump. Obama had a larger vote out of the UP and won a few more counties in the general elections than Hillary.

So yes, Joe is attracting a wider swath of the electorate. He will carry the day in November for not just his White House bid, but for Congress! We need a Democratic Congress to move our country forward and correct all the mistakes and foibles of the last four years. Widening the Democratic voter base will do that, we just need to ensure they come out to vote.

And oh. One more thing! It appears as though Joe will carry every county in all of the "M's". Michigan, Missouri and Mississippi!!!! Woo Hoo!

but are doing better now. When talking about how poorly Hillary did then compared to Joe now, got to give them their due. Would never have happened without them.

And now wouldn't have happened without Trump and the Republicans, huge woohoo for their contributions. Personally, I'm pinning a lot of hope on them continuing to perform. Whatever flipped many months of voter support to voter idiocy in autumn 2016 is likely to be repeated. In fact, our intelligence services are telling us we should count on it.

But agree, it's looking like a lot more are acting smarter going in.

They may be right, they may be wrong -- or maybe I'm wrong in that assessment -- but Dem voters in MI know their state can change the general election outcome as they cast these votes.

They need to change all those counties to Biden blue.

Washington looks iffy...neck and neck and just 0.2% apart but only 67% reporting so still many votes to count...

Looks like North Dakota might be the only one that peed in the party punchbowl...but it's a caucus.

Any way you slice it another excellent night for Joe.

That is the home of Columbia and the University of Missouri. It was reporting 54 of 55 precincts in. That 55th precinct must have been all Biden.
