Is there any normal thinking person out there

who thinks Joe Biden must earn every fucking Bernie vote and if he doesn’t earn it to their satisfaction, then what?

In this environment all that should matter is kicking the Trumpass to the curb.

I am sorry. I literally cannot stand Sanders. He would never be able to earn my vote. But if he were the nominee, I would vote for him out of a concern for self preservation and love of country and democracy. Not based on some selfish equation where someone needs to cater to my political whims

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

that Biden do or say anything in particular, or that his supporters do or say anything in particular, and we well know that there is nothing that would work. Biden could say he now supports ending all student debt and allowing it to be discharged in bankruptcy without question. And they would still be saying too little, too late, etc. and saying he waffled. And they do not seem to understand that Congress would have to come along with it and that Biden's support regarding BK discharge was as a Senator representing a particular state, and that other Senators' states might have interests that make it hard for them to support it. They expect immediate caving and Senators having the "courage" to go against their constituents to do what is "right." And what is right is what they want, not what the Senator's state wants!

Never in my life did I think I could despise anyone as much as I despise trump, but now sanders has taken the prize. After the results of the latest primaries, I celebrated thinking that this egomaniac would step aside. But, oh no, this selfish jerk wants to punish us for his carefully drafted defeat in 2016. When he could have helped the Clinton campaign and helped our nation, he chose to act like an impudent child. I hold him responsible for helping to elect that horrible man now residing in the WH.

He has no business running for the office, he's motivated by greed and notoriety. If he cared for anyone other than himself, he would have disappeared a long time ago. Now, my fellow democrats, you have nothing to look forward to except for enhanced division of our party and the predictable failure of our country and our ideals.

I am so sorry to have shared my desperation with anyone. I am just so shocked that any human being (except for trump) would be so unfeeling and so cruel. His hateful actions will haunt us forever, damn him!

sanders not dropping out may help Biden. sanders keeps on losing primaries by large margins nnly strenghten's Joe's position https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/03/11/no-surprise-bernie-sanders-is-still-all-about-himself-never-party/

Sanders’s remaining in the race should serve several salutary purposes for the party and the country. First, seeing him lose overwhelmingly week after week will dispel the notion that the Democratic Party has moved left, or that he is in a dominant position to negotiate with the overwhelming winner. It’s not clear why the Biden camp should “give” Sanders anything.

Second, it is good to keep Biden in fighting form, continuing to boost turnout and showing, as he did in Philadelphia, how presidential he is. Biden can pivot to the general election, essentially ignoring Sanders. (His planned speech on the coronavirus is the perfect opportunity to leave Sanders out of the discussion entirely.)....

Whoever is to replace Sanders as the standard-bearer for the left — hopefully someone as smart and wonky as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) — will need to learn how to win elections. (Hint: It is not by scaring voters or attaching oneself to the socialist label.) When in office, a new generation of leaders on the left will need to learn the art of deal-making rather than waste years, as Sanders has, rabble-rousing but accomplishing nothing. Unlike Sanders, Warren (or whoever else takes the reins) will not be burdened by a record of reflexively praising dictators nor be driven to attack fellow Democrats.

Sanders will end the race at some point, a diminished figure. In retrospect, his wins in 2016 will be seen more as an anti-Hillary Clinton vote than a pro-Sanders vote. How he behaves at Sunday’s debate will determine whether he leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Democrats.

That being said, I do think he (and we!) should cut the losses of the Busters because most of those people not only weren't ever Democrats, they probably never will be. The majority of Bernie voters that will end up supporting Biden (and also supported Hillary) are those who are pragmatic like the rest of us—many of whom here have already lost one or two candidates before Biden became our choice. They care about children in cages and they care that the continued shift of the judicial branch will hurt many, many people.

The busters don't care about children in cages. I'm sorry to say it but they just don't. If they did, they'd realize just how dangerous Trump is in keeping those children there. Half of the Busters are one or two issue voters (M4A and socialism) and no other issue matters and if it does matter, it's only as a subset of socialism. For example, the belief that capitalism is the cause of racism, sexism, and homophobia, which isn't just patently false, it's ridiculously false. But, I think the other half of them are just looking for something to believe in and rally behind and I use the word rally intentionally here since they'll show up at a rally but they won't show up to vote. Those are the Bernie cultists. They're never going to support our nominee and I don't think that Biden should start going socialist-left if he wants to beat Trump. I think he has a far better chance off getting centrist Republicans and never-Trumpers than he'll ever have winning over the extreme left.

So yeah, go for Bernie's voters, but not the extremists. There's no point.

I mean Sanders would have been the candidate, he still would have to work within a Democratic party that is generally Centrist.

me. I don't need concessions to vote for the Democratic nominee...and neither should Sanders or his supporters. He has lost and should bow out with grace and dignity and help us to defeat Trump. He can affect the change he wants in the Senate. He will never occupy the White House. But should Sanders continue to attack our nominee, Trump might occupy the White House for four more years.

And as I've said, I will vote for Biden if and when he receives the nomination.

Belief in belief doing it's usual damage. I have seen a lot of over-confidence and bullying coming from supporters of both candidates and it is discouraging.

I don't like Sander's personality, but agree with some of his positions. He would be a millions times better than Donny Dimwit.

in your 3rd paragraph.

my "political whims" are not based on a momentary cult of personality, but a 1/2 century of anti war, environmental, and consumer protection activism.

i may vote for biden, but there is nothing he can do to "earn" my vote, and win or lose i'll immediately begin looking for a 2024 challenger.
