(34,857 posts)That make it impossible for a loser of a primary to run as an independent after they lose the primary of that state.
One such state is Pennsylvania. So, if he loses the PA primary, he will be unable to receive ballot access in that state. Michigan is another state.
But there's some ambiguity whether they apply to presidential elections too. My guess is, as was the case in Michigan in 2012 with Gary Johnson, it can apply if vetted by the state government. In this instance, Michigan blocked Johnson, despite many believing the sore-loser laws not applying to that presidential election. However, he was not on the ballot in Michigan in 2012.

(53,475 posts)Indiana requires 2% (44,935) of total votes cast in previous Secretary of State election by June 30. Wouldn't give Sanders time to get it done.
July 5 is deadline as a write-in. And the convention has not even started.

(3,990 posts)Biden is our native son. I've said it so many times that PA has a large number of democrats that will not vote for anyone that call themselves a social anything. And he is not a Democrat which they are aware of. We may be hardheaded, but we're not stupid.

Of course, Bernie hasnt hammered Joe on protecting credit card companies instead of over burdened families or on his love of Asset Forfeiture laws.

(71,023 posts)be for this with Trump trying to kill all of us with Corona,Dreamers, caged babies and a SCOTUS pick on the line... not to mention that Trump plans to go after social security, Medicare, and Medicaid in a second term and we will lose all health care...kids are already going hungry because of Trump. And of course, he may very well destroy our Republic and / or lob nukes at someone...Trump is nuts. He needs to go and Sanders needs to bow out sooner rather than later.

Guess that 'concern-speech' on the pandemic was just for the rubes. So be it for the Senator from Vermont 'telegraphing' his exit.

(7,638 posts)Now it's personal. Do it Mr. Independent Senator from Vermont. I hope the humiliation is epic. You think you're going to go to Joe's house and try to disrupt? Ain't happening. Those people in that area love Joe. You're going to be relegated to the dustbin of history and I for one couldn't be happier.
