The remaining Dem primaries should be cancelled.

There is no way turnout will be representative as the COVID-19 virus spreads. My NY primary is in a couple of weeks. I’m not comfortable going to a polling place where crowds congregate, where poll workers typically are senior citizens who are vulnerable, and where I will have to fill out a bubble sheet and then use a touchscreen machine to cast my vote.

We are in the midst of a national health crisis, and Bernie is forcing us to continue down the Primary path despite the fact that he has absolutely no chance of prevailing. It’s time for this nonsense to end. His ego shouldn’t be permitted to jeopardize public health.

The only other option would be to allow all registered voters to vote by mail, irrespective of deadlines for seeking absentee ballots. Why this hasn’t been raised and discussed is a mystery to me.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think we will just have to leave it for now. Every state is in charge of its own elections, and there would not be any uniformity. We know already how fucked up everything is.

I exchanged posts with another Ohioan on DU not too long ago and he wasn't as optimistic as you are. Said OH had gone full-blown Trump.

Sure would be nice to have OH back in the fold like they were during the Obama-Biden years so I don't think it's hopeless by a long shot. If we can do that without Brown as a running mate that would be great because I'd like to keep his Senate seat. I sent an email not too long before the campaign kicked off asking him to consider running...heard he gave it serious thought but declined in the end.

Real good guy, that Sherrod.

I'd be down with that, but Republicans would still figure out a way to cheat. Like that convicted felon McCrae Dowless in North Carolina. And that recent case in Florida -- sleazy woman changing party affiliation on registrations?

64. I voted early today, but with gloves

(I’m allergic to latex, so mine were latex free. ) Was planning to vote Tuesday but we decided to go to one of the early voting sites, picking 2:30 in the afternoon as a time we thought would be pretty slow. It was. There were only 5 or 6 other people voting, a lot of nice volunteers, some also with gloves. And large pump bottle of hand sanitizer was on there sign in table.

We had 28 different races on the ballot, but I brought the cheat sheet I’d researched and made, so it didn’t take long. Usually like to vote on Election Day so I can fill out a paper ballot. But the brand new electronic machines for early voting were great. And they printed out a full paper ballot that you could feed into the scanner.

Buckle up, people, and vote. They’re always telling us that our military personnel risk their lives to defend our democracy. I figured we should do no less.

And gloves and regular masks available for voters: put them on, go vote, peel them off on the way out.

On edit: Crap, wait, probably not allowed to wear a face covering in a polling place...?

69. Primary may be postponed in NY

For now, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his team have not considered backing any plans to move New York's presidential primary away from April 28.

But Cuomo on Friday for the first time acknowledged the collecting of petition signatures for candidates in New York, due April 1, presents a problem for those running for office and their staff who go door to door to collect those signatures.

It's not clear what New York will do to change that deadline amid the spread of a virus and social distancing efforts.

Cuomo on Friday said efforts to address and combat the spread of the virus will take months -- raising the likelihood of voters heading to the polls as public health officials seek to keep people, especially older people and those with health conditions, a safe distance from one another.
