(82,383 posts)the whole thing is beyond my understanding. If a primary is during your spring break, then be registered at home, or if you are going to FL, do an absentee or early vote.

(563 posts)Many of us did not see it as party time. Besides, I always have voted absentee when I was not going to be available on election days. I have never missed a chance to vote yet. That is a lame excuse anyway

(6,300 posts).... as attested to in this thread, but why people come up with every excuse or accusation to explain why young people do not vote is beyond me when all they have to do is follow the simple science.
sometimes....
.... the answers are simpler than some want them to be.
18 to 25 year olds - science knows why they don't vote
I will start my post with a statement.
There is no "blame" that can be assigned to anyone. It's just scientific fact.
I don't know why so many people have a hard time understanding why young people love rallies which are emotionally stimulating, but do not show up to vote which is, quite frankly, kind of boring, and a lot of the time, requires patience . Science.

Snip:
"It doesnt matter how smart teens are or how well they scored on the SAT or ACT. Good judgment isnt something they can excel in, at least not yet.
The rational part of a teens brain isnt fully developed and wont be until age 25 or so.
In fact, recent research has found that adult and teen brains work differently. Adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the brains rational part. This is the part of the brain that responds to situations with good judgment and an awareness of long-term consequences. Teens process information with the amygdala. This is the emotional part."

(82,383 posts)the could be drafted at that age.
The reasons they are drafted at 19 were cynical - most obedient and unquestioning I think it was.
So consistency would mean no draft until 25.

(6,300 posts)The question at hand is why Millennials don't vote. For the 18 to 25 age group, I have covered that in my original post. It's science, science which I personally believe should be applied to the draft, which I hope is never utilized again. It is science that I cannot force anyone to believe, but would hope that most would see the logic behind it.

(6,300 posts)Why this particular 18 to 25 year old group does better with the military than they do with their voting is because there is no consequences for not voting, but they absolutely know that if they screw up in the military, they can find themselves in deep doo-doo.
