progressive sphere, even when their claims are loudly claimed.

Biden's one mis-step was the Crime Bill, and only because it didn't have explicit wording about sentencing and duration of sentencing.

Biden has written or strongly influenced some enduring progressive legistlation like the Violence against Women Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In the current Senate, the longest-serving member is Patrick Leahy, a Democrat (elected in 1974). Then come Orrin Hatch (elected in 1976), Thad Cochran (elected in 1978), and Chuck Grassley (elected in 1980) before you get to Mitch McConnell (elected in 1984).

If you really care about your plans besides talking about it, you try to find allies and persuade those who could help you. On the other side of that story, it's a positive if you are open to the opinions of others and if you are able to adjust your policies after assessing the facts. Compromise and open-mindedness lead to progress.

In contrast to that, stomping your feet on the ground and not willing to move one inch because you are oh so "principled", will only end with you going home having achieved nothing.
