(67,782 posts)He may be singling out maternity leave, not "general" medical leave, but even so I doubt it's as high as 52 weeks in most of those countries.
He throws stuff out and a large % of his followers believe it. Who does that remind you of?

(54,770 posts)I hope Biden exposes this junk.
Sanders should have dropped out if he is going to resort to desperate BS.
Again, improvements are neede, but not based on inaccuracies.

There is no federal or state statutory minimum paid vacation or paid public holidays. Paid leave is at the discretion of the employers to its employees.[182][183] According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 77% of private employers offer paid vacation to their employees; full-time employees earn on average 10 vacation days after one year of service.[184] Similarly, 77% of private employers give their employees paid time off during public holidays, on average 8 holidays per year.[184][185] Some employers offer no vacation at all.[186] The average number of paid vacation days offered by private employers is 10 days after 1 year of service, 14 days after 5 years, 17 days after 10 years, and 20 days after 20 years.[184][187]

(67,782 posts)....the true facts?
That's not how it works, BeckyDem.
If he's going to give a list of countries that have 52 weeks of "paid medical leave" (anyone find it coincidental that they're ALL identical at 52 weeks?) the least he could do is provide the source of that information.
Lacking that, it leads one to believe that it's untrue.

(67,782 posts)....26 weeks is half of 52 weeks, and 13 weeks is one-quarter of 52 weeks.
So where did that long list of countries with "52 weeks" come from?
I'll anxiously await an answer from you or, better yet, Senator Sanders.

(28,833 posts)You clearly don't have a problem with all of the errors in the data, but it makes the campaign look like they couldn't be bothered to fact-check.
Maybe that's why they can't figure out that the campaign is over.

Doesn't it bother you that he blatantly misrepresented (resisting saying "lied" the duration of paid medical leave?
Turning your comment around, 13 or 26 is NOT 52, that doesn't trouble you?

(8,361 posts)imo regarding the exact figures and why. 26 weeks, 13 weeks? Take the most conservative figures and we are no where near that.
If you really believe the United States now looks so much better with those figures, then please, feel free to enjoy your achievement in outing Bernie Sanders.

If only there were a way for him to make that happen. You know, a way to write down everything he wants done--and then a place where he can try to get other people to agree to do something about it!
Why is he always screeching about what he wants done, but never DOING anything about it himself? Sheesh, 30 years in DC, and you'd think he'd figure out how that works. Statesmen create legislation and then build the coalitions to get it passed.
Ah. Now I see the problem. Working with others to get things done. You can't just yell about wanting it and then yelling even more when people don't jump to obey.
Funny how that works.
