This will be extremely beneficial in so many ways, but to name a few:

- Selecting Kamala will be Joe's big THANK YOU to AA voters for saving his campaign. I'm being blunt & speaking my mind here folks, so don't shoot me if you disagree. Black voters saved Joe's & our butts!

- Selecting Kamala will be Joe's big THANK YOU to WOMEN voters for turning out in droves helping push the surge in votes across all states

- Kamala's breadth of experience in government, first at the state level then in the Senate, will help Joe tremendously in the work of rebuilding the government and the country in reversing the harmful policies this admin has inflicted upon us.

- Kamala's strong debate and campaigning experience will help GOTV for Joe. She's highly intelligent and capable, and inspires confidence in people, something we so desperately need restored for the American people.

50. Excellent first two points.
Mon Mar 16, 2020, 08:11 AM
Mar 2020

Third one not so much in that experience doesn't matter in electoral politics.

Fourth one might actually be a minus since Harris spent much of her debate time attacking Biden and will be seen by some as a hypocritical opportunist.

Two points that you missed are that Harris comes from a solid blue state and doesn't put any swing states in play. And that her record as a prosecutor might not attract progressive voters.

Particularly with a 78-year-old president in the context of a pandemic.

"doesn't put any swing states in play"

False, she would be an influence nationally, both as a woman and as a person of color. Limiting one's scope to one state while ignoring the big picture doesn't make a lot of sense.

Mar 2020

Here's why I like Val (to save time, I copied this from an earlier post I did):

I have enormous respect for both Kamala Harris and Stacey Abrams, and I believe either of them would make excellent VPs. But looking further down the road, I think Val Demings might have a slight edge over Harris and Abrams to be president after Joe Biden. I have only recently "alerted" to Demings and her potential as VP and future president, and I have just started reading up on her and watching her interviews on YouTube, but my first impressions are that, along with her many wonderful qualities and impressive background and experience, she has that crucial presidential gravitas. Watching her questioning the witnesses during the impeachment process, she reminded me a little bit of Barbara Jordan during the Nixon impeachment trials. Plus, she's a two-term Congresswoman from Florida (a state with 29 electoral votes), she is a former police chief with a sensible approach to gun control, and—fun fact—she rides a Harley!

But in the end, I would be thrilled to have Kamala or Stacey or Val for VP and then president.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

This forum is the only thing keeping me from going insane at this point! We live in a red county in a red state where we actually have to be careful what we say in public places because we know we're surrounded by Trump Humpers. I had lunch at a small café with a friend last week (a fellow Democrat) and our conversation couldn't help but turn to the Mango Menace. A woman at a table nearby twisted around in her chair and gave me the stink eye! We ignored her and kept talking. Figured if we kept talking, she MIGHT get a clue that Dear Leader might not be the best president this country has ever had after all!

the Senate, rather than dragging them out to make Biden's run easier.

Why interfere with a successful Senate career to run for Veep? A possibly dead-end job.

Now, Justice and economic cabinet and leadership posts just may be what the doctor ordered for the likes of Harris and Warren. They have specific talents and skills for that sort of thing. We have crises and insanity at HUD, Education, and other departments that need tender loving care.

FWIW, I think a woman for Veep is a great idea, but I don't know why Biden locked himself into it. What's done is done and I hope it works and doesn't cause him more trouble.

Mon Mar 16, 2020, 11:41 AM
Mar 2020

There has been alot speculation about it and it does makes sense from the GOP point of view. They may be desperate when they see the polling running up to the convention and they could throw a hail mary like they did with Sarah Palin in 2008.

So our VP needs to match-up well to Haley. She is very knowledgeable, has lots of experience, "young" in relative terms, has good stage appeal and is a minority.

Considering all that, I think Kamala Harris would be the best against Haley. It clearly cant be Warren who would look like her mother or even grandmother on stage. Abrams or Demings would also be good choices but Harris seems the best.
