It seems like the hope for a delay is also a hope for some kind of opening created by this process. I think the party should declare the primaries over and every other Dem that hasn't weighed in yet -- Warren and Obama -- should publicly support that. I'm not terribly thrilled with GOP governors trying to influence our process in favor of the candidate they'd most like to face in November.

Either everyone should be permitted to vote remotely by mail or other means, or the primaries should be put off until arrangements can be made for everyone to participate remotely. Some here still apparently are unwilling to acknowledge the seriousness of this pandemic, and the impact that it will have on the health of many. In addition, who will work at the polls? You can’t seriously expect senior citizens who are amongst the most vulnerable to risk their health and safety? In NYS, you can apply for an absentee ballot up to 7 days before the election. https://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/voting/AbsenteeBallot-English.pdf. Just in canes, I’ve applied for an absentee ballot.

Not where I live, but it’s an issue elsewhere.

Regarding the Presidential Primary, it should be ended. Bernie is a has been, and Gabbard is a never was. Neither of them have a snow ball’s chance in hell of getting the nomination, and at this point, they are merely making mischief by causing Biden to waste time and resources that could be better used to end the Trump Presidency.

isn't the presidential election so I doubt there will be LONG LINES. Everywhere I've lived, the line was relatively short, and if youu just stand a little away from the next person in line you'll be fine. So he's looking for any escape from that. Sorry, we here in Arizona have been voting by mail for weeks already. My mom, who is an election supervisor will be working for 15 hours on Tuesday helping people vote. We have had vote by mail for a while now. I voted for Biden weeks ago.

Nowadays I go for my long walks with a blue bandana around my neck, and if I get near someone when I walk, I put the bandana over my mouth and nose, because I am taking people's advice and acting as if I am infected when I am not. If people are worried, they should wash their hands before they go out. They should put on gloves and cover every part of their body. They should wear a hat, and they should put a bandana over their faces like I do when I get near another person.

I have also used clippers to cut my hair short. Can the virus live on human hair? In case it can, I now have less hair.

Are you okay if, in November, Trump requests postponing the election due to an outbreak of something? It's a dangerous game. You support it now and you forfeit any argument in the future if it's employed at a national election. I doubt you'd be okay with Trump demanding the postponement of the presidential election if things are just as awful as they are now - or worse.

If states cancel because Sanders asks for it, in November, if Trump sees that he is going to get beaten, he asks states to cancel their elections, Senator Sanders and his supporters would have already set the standard for what Trump could do.

He would come out and say states need to postpone elections because it's not safe for voters in major US cities to cast their ballot. Of course, he doesn't have authority to get that done - but he can put pressure on states.

1) Ask each state to postpone their elections.
2) IF the state refuses to, he will up the National Guard to every polling station in America's cities (under the idea they're the hardest hit) to protect order and make sure voting is done 'efficiently and within specific guidelines).
3) Maybe some states with Republicans governors and legislatures, like, say Ohio or Florida, give in and postpone. How can you have a legitimate election at that point if some states vote and others don't?

And if anyone pushes back, Trump could just claim he's following the lead of what the Democratic Party did earlier in the year.

But it's cute you ignored my question: would you be okay with Trump asking states to postpone the vote in November? Because allowing for it now opens the door for him to petition to do the same in November. There's precedent now.

Moreover, what happens if they postpone but this gets worse? Trump said this could go into August. Then what? It's clear Bernie wants to postpone because doing so postponed his demise. He is not going to be the nominee and postponing will possibly lead to an outright cancellation of those primaries - then what? If it's this important then the DNC should announce they're canceling the rest of the primary and Biden is the presumptive nominee.

Because if so, I remember his answer being more nuanced than that. He said he doesn't think we should make a habit of postponing elections, but it might make sense in light of what's going on. The way I read it was he was deferring to the governors. This was something he was asked about, not something he started pushing.
