Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumFriends, it's like this.
You're either going to help Trump get re-elected in November or you're going to help defeat Trump.
Not voting, voting 3rd party, or voting for a write-in candidate will ALL help get Trump re-elected. You're a Trump supporter if you do any of those.
There is no middle ground here. And there is no forgiveness. If you do anything to help Trump and admit to it, we'll remember you. Don't come back in 2022 or 2024 claiming to be one of the good guys.

It is simply unfathomable how ANYONE could still think that way in the current situation, though I have no doubt there are rubes out there saying exactly that.
At least it's unfathomable to this poster from north of the border- Canadians have a long history of strategic voting.
Biden is an amazing candidate and will be a great President.

(28,609 posts)They (the people I know) are as invested in Bernie as much as the Trump people are invested in Trump. To compromise now, I believe, would be to admit they were in the wrong not to compromise four years ago. It's an emotional investment, and it's got to be very psychologically difficult to let go. And everyone is in panic mode right now - not the best time to make rational choices, as we see with peoples' bizarre shopping habits.
I am trying to be sympathetic, even though I've seen Bernie Sanders as a bane to the Democrats since the summer of 2015.

By pulling the lever for Joe Biden without reservation or qualification. He was my sixth choice. But, if hes our nominee, hell get my vote. Hell, Id vote for him ten times if I could. Whatever will rid us of the plague currently squatting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The last time a candidate I voted for carried my state, and won the Presidency was Carter. It is frustrating.

(9,967 posts)that he will be "elected" exactly like he was in 2016 or even worse..........The Republicans and Putin have far more corruption going on for this election now that the Supreme Court has said to the Republicans: Anything Goes
Then of course, depending on the Virus, most of us might not even think/care about the election.......

(31 posts)Why anyone would choose to not vote or write in a candidate just because their preferred person is not the nominee is beyond me! As long as a candidate holds the same basic beliefs, why would you not vote for him, especially when it means defeating Trump and all he stands for! We all have to compromise! No single candidate will be perfect.

(629 posts)if he is the nominee. Here are some reasons why:
1) Biden is more liked than Hillary was
2) Biden seems to be winning the nomination on his own without the DNC putting their thumb on the scale
3) Trump! F him! He needs to be voted out and people realize that

(257 posts)If you really want to get people on your side that isn't the way. You could have said" I'm sorry you feel that way hopefully you come around to see why it's important to beat Trump." Or something along those lines. Just as it is important for us Sanders supporters to accept that Biden is going to be the candidate and support him in order to be Trump, it's important for Biden supporters to be gracious in winning.

(37,899 posts)you have to get 152 people who care from these categories, which you defined in your post:
Not voting, voting 3rd party, or voting for a write-in candidate
Most of your 152 people, if not all, are Biden supporters, therefore, they do not qualify.
Your comment, "Bernie is a loser" shows a lack of maturity.
If your goal is to get "not voting, voting 3rd party, or voting for a write-in candidate" to vote for Biden, you are failing and you will not persuade anyone with such tactics. In fact, such tactics probably incite people do double down, so you're really just shooting yourself in the foot.

(22 posts)We all seem to be going on the assumption there will actually be an election. Ohio cancelled their primary with no authority to do so, what makes you think tRump won't do the same thing ?
We are in a state of emergency right now, he will say the quarantine must continue, the election must be delayed until the crisis is over. He will remain in charge to see us all through this unprecedented emergency. He will have all the support he needs...... We saw that the normal checks and balances are no longer operational. We are just months away from being a former democracy.
