If Bernie suspended his campaign and started heartily campaigning for Joe he'd be remembered as a statesman and hero who put patriotism and love of his fellow American ahead of everything. There is nothing more important for the health of the nation and the world than to replace Trump.
Bernie, I know it's in you

(1 post)He's a Statesman who has never wavered in his advocacy for the working class. At this moment, I believe he needs to continue to fight for his closely held belief in his vision for America. His legacy will be to have pushed the national discussion left, which is already apparent as Red states such as GA begin to pass measures related to paid family leave and childcare. DNC will continue to move incrementally towards his platform.
Round 2 to see if a centrist moderate with few concrete policy proposals can defeat Trump's faux populism and nationalist rhetoric.

(71,023 posts)Clinton Sufficiently in the General. Trump's election has made it 100 times worse for the poor, for working people, LGBTQ, AA people, choice ,immigration, health care, climate etc... So spare me. All I can say is actions speak louder than words...and talking the talk isn't enough...let's see some accomplishments...IE walking the walk.

(32,640 posts)Warren has moved the discussion on income inequality far more than Sanders, and has been in the Senate fewer years.
She lapped him in accomplishments even before she was a Senator...
Why do you give credit to Sanders for recent legislation in Georgia? His endorsement of candidates there don't get them elected.

(58,785 posts)in most books on this era will depend on the book's focus. Even his role as a Russian tool against America is about RUSSIA.
Republican election theft using him? About Republican corruption and techniques, and treason.
RW fascistic corruption versus our liberal democracy? Huge! Definitely about that.
RW and LW populist movements? A nation of our size sees them in various strengths every election, usually small and unnoticed, but Trump's the ringmaster for this one.
I doubt that Sanders is capable of seeing himself in context, but I don't doubt he understands that the day he steps off the national stage is the day he becomes history. Of a sort.
