Maryland postpones April 28 primary election over coronavirus

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced that he was postponing the state's primaries, originally scheduled for late April, to June 2 as the country grapples with the spread of the coronavirus.

Maryland is now the fifth state to move its primaries, joining Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky and Ohio, which saw its primary originally scheduled for today pushed until June after an eleventh-hour legal battle.

“It would endanger public health to allow thousands of people to assemble … and it would put Marylanders at risk,” Hogan said Tuesday at a press conference.

Right now people are guessing this will peak on May 1st. If that's the case, ain't no way they're handling a primary a month after that.

The Democratic nominee is going to have to be selected without a majority casting their votes.

It sounds crazy.

But if I would have told you in January we'd be talking about postponing primaries, you'd think that was crazy too.

I’m in affected district. If they don’t get the word out to Baltimore City I’m afraid the republicans in the suburbs will capture this Blue seat for themselves.

Jesus, 2.2 million deaths in the US alone if we had done nothing. Thank God Trump and the CDC sprang into action about 2 months ago when the first case was announced.

Plus, you need people to count the ballots. If there's still a quarantine, I doubt there'd be anyone to count the ballots, especially if those ballots could theoretically be contaminated with this thing.

One postpones it at the very last second and another postpones it when it's still 6 weeks away and by the time they get around to it things could even be worse.

Gotta love these Gopper Governors, boy. No happy medium with these guys.

getting mail-in ballots out to everyone?

I don't want to sound like a conspiracy person, but this is starting to look like a dry run for republican governors tampering with November 3rd.

Something IS starting to smell a little fishy here, ain't it?

Trump: "I'm running against an illegitimate candidate who didn't even have the required amount of delegates. Plus Republican Governors care about their people and Democratic ones don't! Plus look at how well the stock market is doing...it's only down 25% from when Obama gave it to me...woulda been down 50% if I hadn't won!"

I worry trump will cancel the November election. If he doesn’t, my second fear they will do mail in ballots (which I don’t trust) and it will be “fixed” for him to win.
