It may be that states move to a mail-in option, but I'm not sure how the laws work in each state to change it.

(12,008 posts)IDK what the DNC rules are on it, but most if not all of the states that scheduled their primaries for this late in the cycle have other elections scheduled the same day. The only reason to go this late in the cycle is to save money on holding a separate primary just for the presidential.

Plus, there are down ballot races for voters to choose as well: Congressional and Senatorial candidates, state legislators, and so on.
