Oh, he's not crazy, I've seen him backtrack and softer-peddle competently a bunch of times in interviews when he was called on something. But it's a lifelong theme, and I've come to believe that at base he thinks it's all essentially true. And very important truth at that.

Cubans are as likely to be republicans as democrats. And the other large group, Puerto Rican’s have a whole different set of issues and arrive here as citizens. The ones I know do not see themselves as immigrants more like Americans moving between states. Of course, that is small sample of the ones I work with. They are often very familiar with the party and it’s history.
