DNC Chair Tom Perez Calls For States To Expand Voting By Mail

"It's a false choice we either have safety or we hold elections. There are ways to hold elections so that we don't put people in harm's way. What we have called for at the DNC moving forward -- let me also start out by saying we don't have the authority to postpone elections. That's up to states. What we're telling states is that you should follow the lead of states like Oregon and Washington state and Arizona, and others, and provide no-excuse absentee voting. Vote by mail, have longer early voting, so that you don't have people queueing up.

"We shouldn't have to make a false choice. There are ways to do this. Moving forward, that's exactly what the states that haven't gone yet should be doing."

Sounds doable.

Then after the primaries, he's got to deal with the feasibility of convening the national convention. Unless participants have been vaccinated, I don't think it's going to happen.

expanded absentee voting and vote by mail will happen even in Republican dominated states. Voter suppression will drop considerably once that happens.

I will regret the passing of the former practice. There seemed to me something magical, something powerful, in the entire country joining to make a national decision on a national day. Unfortunately people resolved to cook the outcomes by sharp practice and skullduggery have spoilt the spell.

Mail tampering is a federal crime with stipulated penalties of jail and fines -- losing, misplacing or any other mishandling of mailed ballots has to be reported and proven, though.

This ballot mailing solution could have more problems of its own, suppression being the result.

No waiting, no traveling. Put a dollar value on all those time and travel costs! Far more, probably 20 times more, than printing and mailing a form.

7. A Diebold voting machine changed my Kerry vote to Bush 3 times

before I could confirm the Kerry vote.

As I left the polling station I told the supervisor how the machine is malfunctioning, so please take it out of service. She waved a Florida state trooper over to escort me out of the building without further discussion lest I make a visible scene that could get me detained, he said.

So yeah, get rid of those rigged voting machines NOW, and go back to paper ballots counted by hand.

Remember, Ivanka trump has some deal going on about owning a voting machine operation, so you can bet the cheat is on with the repubs.

I've voted by mail for years because I'm over 60. But there is no damn reason that this can't be done for everyone.
