Biden Strategists Shooting Themselves in Foot

It might be true that Bernie should concede, but lets put that aside. There are valid arguments and invalid arguments. The worst, most invalid arguments for Bernie conceding will come back to haunt Biden strategists later.

For example, the idea that continuing the primary is bad because of COVID19. Or Bernie is like the coronavirus. Republican media will later use the same argument against Biden in November. Yes, November. Biden strategists will look like hypocrites to Independents.

Instead of making bad arguments that are going to push away progressives now and independents later, Biden strategists should be working on increasing access to absentee voting, mail-ins...improving infrastructure.

We need to move toward unity while retaining democracy.

Go Team!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

All along he'd been portraying Bernie as the victim of nefarious unseen forces, somehow conspiring to sabotage Sanders' rightful ascension to the presidency. Now, after Bernie's revolution has been rejected by rank and file Democrats, his complaint seems to be Sanders isn't being accorded the respect he's due. Apparently, Biden's conciliatory remarks in victory have not been enough; nothing short of Joe stepping aside and conceding the nomination to Bernie will do.

The comparison of Sanders stopping his campaign because the numbers clearly show that at this point, HE CAN'T WIN, to stopping the general election in November, is ludicrous. COVID-19 is not an issue in the primary. Sanders can't win.

To argue that we can't have an election in November BECAUSE of COVID-19 is nothing but pretzel logic to try to delay the turd's inevitable defeat.

I'll make my own homemade hazmat suit if necessary, but I WILL show up to vote.

I could and do find fault with all of the folks we put up this time. One Dem will win with enough support to get around the suppression and I will support whoever it is as I stated. You are right about it eliciting negative responses and honestly it gets so bad that I don't even want to visit DU or Kos for example. A problem I didn't bother with, because as you said it would either be to deaf ears or be hammered, is the fact that the Democratic Party continually makes this plea to young people under 30 to "be involved and tell us what you want". Then when they do say "we want these kinds of things" the party and the old guard turn around and say "forget it but thanks for participating". Then we have to struggle to try to re-energize as many as we can to vote for what they had no enthusiasm for by reminding them how awful the alternatives are. I lived through it in the '60's with Vietnam, the draft etc. So many people forget or never really knew that the Democratic Party was not some bastion of assistance for people trying to end the draft or stop the war. A few to be sure were helpful but we had to fight both the GOP and the Democratic Party. That's the truth of things. Now having said all of this I have to say that I always have voted for Democrats. But I am realistic about how little or how much will actually change.

Faceb***? 4chan?

If you can't see why Joe Biden would be millions of miles better than trump in every single way, I don't think anyone can convince you to vote Blue.

Bernie promises the moon, but there's very little he can do via executive order. Did you really think he single-handedly could enact all these laws? There is a legislative process for everything. You need to find the votes and gulp, compromise sometimes to get the necessary votes.

Biden is the best, ONLY option for the change you are looking. May not be fast enough for you because you have been conditioned by Bernie for years that he can make all thse amazing (impossible?) changes by himself.

That was a lie. There is a process to pass laws and Bernie has not even shown he can get stuff passed. Look at his record.

It is true Sanders should resign yesterday...and not putting it aside. And one of the reason he needs to resign is to get the general going now and that will make it harder to cancel the General than if it runs right up to it...and I would say that Sanders supporters online are 'shooting' the country but not in the foot...a more serious wound I think...let's hope it is not a mortal wound for our Republic.

Sanders, yet again, has found himself in a position in the Democratic Primary where he has absolutely no path to winning the nomination, therefore, he should drop out. Staying in the race only hurts Democrats, the Democratic Party, and our chances in November. He is doing the same divisive shit again this primary that cost us the presidency in 2016.

First of all, EVIDENCE for any of these claims you're making. And from CREDIBLE sources that pass muster with people who aren't morons, lunatics, or both.

Second:

Contrary to your fevered delusions, Biden and his staff have ZERO input or control over the primary process. The DNC has ZERO input or control over the primary process.

Each state has its own laws and rules in place for what to do with that process, and they don't answer to candidates or political parties about it. They answer to those laws and the residents of their state. NOTHING AND NO ONE ELSE!

Furthermore, you cannot be so appallingly ignorant that you don't realize that there is more going on than the fricking Presidential primaries. States that haven't voted yet also have primaries for federal legislators (Congress reps and in some cases Senators), state legislators, and other statewide races, and numerous other down ticket races at the county or municipal level that need to be sorted out. Those races are important too--far more important than a sore loser grumpy old fool like BS. Are you trying to deny them their voice and their right to decide those things for themselves? To what end would YOU do that with these baseless assertions you're making?

For pity's sake, stop making everything about BS, and stop making up total bullshit on behalf of his losing campaign, rather than facing the reality of how he's never going to be the candidate, that it's those VOTERS whom BS and his supporters disdain who have said that they're just not into him, and how that will not change, no matter how many straws you grasp in desperation to make the impossible happen.

Each state will decide for themselves how they must deal with trying to give residents their Constitutional right to have a voice in the political process versus protecting them during an epidemic. These are tough decisions--wrenching decisions, even, for people who love their country and hold sacred the right to vote--and you are not helping when you pollute the process with ridiculous conspiracy theories to prop up a failed candidate and his failed campaign.

Back off and let the states sort these things out as best they can, given the circumstances they're dealing with.

39. People who Accuse Biden's Camp of Bad Faith With Bernie Are Stretching the Truth At Best
Thu Mar 19, 2020, 07:43 AM

No one officially associated with Biden's campaign has called for Bernie to drop out. Many of his supporters like me have but we're hardly part of the Biden campaign. I'm sick of the Media including Liberal friendly MSNBC positing this BS take about Bernie. I'm also sick of the Media accusing Dems of not being sufficiently praiseful or thankful to Bernie for all his work even as he and his campaign continue to attack the Dem party and the "establishment". If Hillary or Biden had made a case that they were going to win because they could excite young people to come out in droves the Media would be all over their failure as they should be. Yet they allow Bernie to basically go silent on this failures and his future plans about staying or leaving the race.

The GE happens on one day.

But the primary has been going on a while. And since SC, it's been the Joe Biden show. The simple, mathematical fact is that a Bernie victory would now require an incredibly unlikely series of events.

These events are NOT comparable.

One is all the marbles.

The other wastes resources and risks lives to absolutely no purpose. Bernie's last hope was that Biden would collapse in the AZ debate. It didn't happen. It's over.

I was a supporter of Senator Sanders for President, until Joe told the gun nut off to his face.

Then I thought, Bernie and Warren are most effective in the Senate for policy change.

I hope Kamila get AG, she kicks butt.

Klobachar for VP. I loved her in the Supreme court hearings.

There is a place for all these awesome people. Let's build this country up, not bring eachother down.

69. Why is "continuing the primary is bad because of COVID19" a "worst, most invalid argument"?
Thu Mar 19, 2020, 03:00 PM
Mar 2020

It's quite a reasonable argument. There is a public health emergency worse than anything in a century. Primaries involve many people mingling and touching the same objects. If the outcome looks certain anyway (current odds: Biden 1/12, Hillary Clinton 25/1, Michelle Obama 68/1, Sanders 87/1), then keeping a dangerous process going is not worth it.

They cannot use that argument about November (current odds: Biden 23/20, Trump 21/20), which is universally acknowledged to be a tight race.

Biden supporters in this forum such as yourself and others, on Twitter, as well as Biden surrogates and strategists are trying to say the same thing as you.

In the same way that there is political spin right now that Bernie is "forcing" people to go to primaries, it's going to be the same thing later with Biden vs Trump. Like this: "Reporters asked Biden if he'd be in favor of postponing the election until after the coronavirus outbreak is done and Biden said he wants to force people to the polls. This is especially bad for older people who blah blah blah..."

You are shooting yourself in the foot.

You are using a strawman argument (yes, something that really is an "invalid" argument): you have invented a make-believe person who says something stupid ("Biden said he wants to force people to the polls. This is especially bad for older people who blah blah blah...&quot , and then you pretend that you being able to imagine a stupid Republican is the equivalent of a telling argument in the hands of the Republicans.

I notice you are completely ignoring the reality that the general election is genuinely undecided, while the primary is acknowledged by all to be effectively over. Ignoring reality, and saying "nothing must ever be done that a stupid person could make a stupid, unconvincing, useless argument about" is no way to discuss, or organise, anything.
