So, is Bernie going to slink off quietly, or

is does he still think he has a chance because of all the corona unknown?

When is he going to address the state of his campaign?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

That's true. The vast majority or Sanders supporters probably already know they will vote for Biden. *Especially* the Sanders supporters on DU, where that number is probably very near 100%.

Nevertheless, a psychological battering down or belittling by Biden supporters can affect enthusiasm. And while an enthusiastic vote may count exactly the same as an unenthusiastic one, there could be differences in things like how much they talk Biden up among their friends, whether they contribute $ to the campaign, whether they volunteer, etc.

I've seen lots of posts over the year of people who said that, even though they would hold their noses and vote for Sanders in the general if it came to that, they would NEVER support him in the primary simply because they can't stand the attitudes they've seen from his supporters. You think that shoe can't be worn on the other foot?

So let me turn this around: With Biden the presumptive nominee, what *positive* impact do you think your OP has? Does it provide any useful info to anyone? Does it make anyone feel better about our candidate? Did you think anyone here actually had the answers to the questions you posed? If you were genuinely curious about what people here thought those answers would be, fine, but you still could have asked the questions (perhaps made it a DU poll) without loaded terms like "slink" -- but since that's not the route you chose, it looks more like you don't really care about those answers, but just felt like putting up another "let's bitch about Bernie" post. So the question is, why? In what way is that productive or useful to anyone?

If you feel you must express solidarity with other Bernie-haters, maybe at least post in the Biden group, where you can do the same venting without ticking off people who it would be better to have as allies.

IMO.

If I were to vote in a presidential

I'm not holding their hand or pampering them. I expect them to act like grownups and vote for the candidate that the VOTERS chose. The ones who won't do the right thing in November and vote for Biden are the people who never intended to do so, no matter what any of us do or say.

I saw one one newish Bernie supporter get pounced on here. The poster admitted Biden would be the nominee and asked people not to gloat in victory. Got pounced on again and hasn't posted since.

DU is largely unwelcoming to the significant percentage of Democrats who support or supported Bernie. As a community, DU is contributing to the fracture of the Democratic party. It's counter-productive.

Edited to add omitted word.

A lot of his support comes from independents and those affiliated with third-parties or unaffiliated. It's why he tends to do much better in open primaries. I'd be surprised if his support is majority-Dem, much less a vast majority. He lost Dems 2:1 in 2016 and seems to be on pace for similar numbers this cycle.

DU has historically had a higher-than-average percentage of both and I think they're a significant chunk of his support here. There are a few high-profile Sanders supporters who I know aren't Dems, because they've said so. The assumption that everyone on DU is a Democrat, or even that the vast majority are, is highly unlikely to be true, even now.

"The Sanders people here are not like those toxic people on social media who are giving Sanders voters such a bad name."

That's clearly not true. Some DUers have been pushing the same nonsense as Sanders' staff, including the "dementia" conspiracy theories, though that meme pretty much died after the last debate, the false assertions about Biden and Social Security, and the constant drumbeat of anti-Democratic Party nonsense plugged by people like David Sirota.

(although I haven’t seen anyone here use the “dementia” slur) but I think some of that can be chalked up to typical primary rivalry. Not the blatantly mean stuff, of course. I guess I’m also going on my personal experience with Sanders voters, which is very positive. My mom was one and my friend group are all Sanders Democrats who are excited to vote for Biden to get Trump out of office. I realize it’s anecdotal.

I think future chair and committee assignments should be contingent on his swift withdrawal and his full throated and sincere endorsement of Joe Biden... along with his continued, cooperative, and coordinated help in taking the fight directly to the GOP... and an immediate and permanent cessation of all hostilities, smears, lies, divisive and derogatory remarks about Democrats, the Democratic party, and Joe Biden.

All I'm trying to say is this: If he's an "ally" then he needs to start acting like one. If he cannot act like one, if he cannot get with the program... then we need to stop affording him certain honors, assignments, privileges. I think that's a perfectly reasonable condition to make. There's nothing wrong with setting minimum standards and having higher expectations.

will still be helpful in the Senate. Honestly, the more behind-the-scenes Bernie remains the more clear it will be, even to some of those supporters who do not wish to give up. With the remaining primary season in question, I think Biden should just move forward as the nominee "apparent".

If Bernie goes quiet, it is hard for his more deleterious spokespeople/vocal supporters to be out there. And, that is a good thing. I will be forever grateful if I never hear from Nina Turner, Ceng Uygur, David Sirota, Briahna Joy Gray, Susan Sarandon again. And Michael Moore needs to open his eyes and get a clue.
