Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI Call on Bernie Sanders to Announce His Withdrawal Today
and to issue a strong endorsement of Joe Biden. There is no time for delay in this. Given the current pandemic crisis, it is time for the primary campaign to end. It is inevitable that Bernie Sanders will not become the Democratic nominee, so there is no reason, now, to delay a public announcement that he is ending his campaign.
Further, since the alternative to Joe Biden is another term of Donald Trump, there is no reason to withhold a strong, enthusiastic endorsement of the man who will be the Democratic nominee. Not to offer a solid, emphatic endorsement would be tantamount to telling supporters to vote however they wish or not to vote at all if that is their wish.
I call on Bernie Sanders to do what is best for this nation, not what best suits his own ego. There is no time to waste. The sooner we are all on board to elect Joe Biden in November, the sooner we can focus our attention on the current crisis and on the general election.
I am not the only one who is making this call. Will Senator Sanders do what is right, or will he continue to attack Joe Biden through his campaign staff and supporters? I cannot answer that question. Only Senator Sanders can.
He should do so, forthwith!

(15,751 posts)[That may be why he kept up his antics in 2016].
Every day it seems, there are media mentions of, 'reassessing, etc.' his campaign - which has been clinically dead since Super Tuesday, way back when.

(147,606 posts)How is an open suggestion to a political candidate "shit stirring?"
I've been around here for a long time, and have posted many, many times here. I'm not stirring shit. I'm posting my opinion. That you disagree with it is your choice. I don't mind, either, but to accuse me of "shit-stirring" for suggesting that Bernie Sanders withdraw and endorse Joe Biden is not "shit-stirring" in any way.
With that, I am done with this subthread.

He has a choice -- drop out and endorse Joe to remain relevant or become an obscure recluse except on far far left websites.

(147,606 posts)His endorsement of Joe Biden would help our Democratic nominee win the election. So, I call on Bernie Sanders to offer that endorsement enthusiastically for that reason.

(1,315 posts)Also, more Democrats will support his legislative efforts and if he succeeds in passing some, Biden is more likely to sign those into law.
