Reuters: U.S. candidate Biden was vastly outspent by Sanders in February

In February, Biden’s campaign spend $13.1 million, compared to $45.8 million spent by Sanders. His campaign manager said this week he was reassessing his bid.

The presidential race has changed dramatically since February, however, as a deadly coronavirus outbreak has led campaigns to suspend rallies and fundraisers.

The outbreak is also causing swaths of the U.S. economy to shut down as state and local officials order businesses closed and, increasingly, people to stay in their homes.

The outbreak could lead campaigns to rely more on television and digital advertising.

Biden spent only around $5 million on ads in February, compared to more than $26 million spent by Sanders.

With that in view, Bernie was smart to yank his ads whether he plans to stay in or not. He probably would have done better without them.

Looks like Bernie probably still has a ton of dough left...would be nice if/when he drops out if he would put that toward Congressional races and help get Joe a bluer Congress come next January. The more Dems we have in the Senate and House the more progressive the policies they can push for.

As you can see, Trump already has a huge warchest...and that doesn't even include Putin's Russian petrodollar fund.

Bloomberg throws a cool billion or two into the presidential race. I’m hearing some reports that he reneging on his promise to help Biden. Hope that isn’t true.

The way I understand it, he can’t donate more than $2800 to Biden’s actual campaign. But he can give unlimited amounts to Superpacs. DUers, correct me if I’m wrong.

Even if Mayor Mikey doesn't create his own super PAC if he gives it to the DNC they might be able to spread it around to wherever they think it's best used. I'm not totally up to speed on how all these campaign rules and laws are set up but pretty sure whatever they are Trump & the GOP will break them. Like when Russia was funneling money through the NRA last election. They seem to have been neutered a bit since 2016 with all the intrigue and infighting the gun lobby has been having the last coupla years but there are plenty of other Republican dark money pits that will spring up in their place.

After the Democrats pick a presidential nominee, he or she will be able to set up joint fundraising groups with the Democratic National Committee that can bring in more than $2,800 or $5,600 per donor. But the DNC already does have a joint fundraising committee with state groups — the Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund — that can accept as much as $865,000 a year from an individual donor.

"Campaign finance laws"...LOL. Thanks to Citizens United the money is sloshing around wherever candidates and donors want it to go...what a joke.

Anyway, with coronavirus cases going up and the stock market going down Trump may be so despised by November Joe may not even need that much dough to whoop him. Probably better to spend more on downballot races where a few bucks might make a whole lotta difference.

Keep the House and increase Pelosi's majority...take back the Senate and boot Moscow Mitch...and get a true-blue Dem in the White House and President Putinpuppet the hell out. Then rock and roll.

Wow! That reveals a LOT about the candidates, doesn't it? Even with ALL THAT MONEY being spent by Sanders... trying to persuade and influence the voters... they STILL rejected him. What a humiliating and crushing defeat!
